Pery Ribeiro - Pery Ribeiro (1971)

I saw today at Bossa On-line from the mighty t_ito an album that I did not know the existence. I'm inviting Loronixers to check out there, it is an EP of a group called Trio Sam-Bossa, featuring Geraldo Cunha (guitar), Pery Ribeiro (flute) and Wilson Miranda (sax). It is not necessary to say that we are tracking down this EP and if someone can make it as a contribution, we will be really pleased. Trio Sam-Bossa reminds me Pery Ribeiro...

This is Pery Ribeiro - Pery Ribeiro (1971), for Odeon. Reviewers says that Pery Ribeiro discography has two phases, the Bossa Nova phase that ends with Encontro - Pery Ribeiro + Bossa 3 (1966) and the MPB phase starting with this album in 1971. I never knew why Pery Ribeiro made a hiatus of five years on recordings; anyway, this is the first Pery Ribeiro LP from this second phase at Loronix. Personnel is unknown with the exception of Maestro Lindolfo Gaya, credited as Musical Director at the back cover. Tracks include:

01 - Coisas (Taiguara)
02 - Agora (Ivan Lins / Ronaldo Monteiro de Souza)
03 - O Que Faço Pra Esquecer (Silvio César)
04 - Menina dos Olhos Tristes (Carlos Lacerda / Jocafi)
05 - Canção do Nosso Amor (Silveira / Dalton Medeiros)
06 - O Herói (Silvio César)
07 - Dia de Vitória (Marcos Valle / Paulo Sergio Valle)
08 - Pra Você (Silvio César)
09 - Canto Puro Amor (Tito Madi)

It's so nice to see this rather unkown LP here. I did an interview with Pery Ribeiro two years ago by phone and he is such a friendly person.
I'm not sure if it is known in Brazil but in fact, Pery Ribeiro lately returned to Bossa Nova, touring with Leny Andrade again after all this years in Europe. The reason why the two of them got together again is a project by German guitarist Paulo Morello and Danish sax player Kim Barth who created the "Bossa Legends" band. It came into being after a visit in Rio a couple of years ago where they jammed with musicians like Lucio Nascimento (bass player of many MPB artists).
Morello & Barth played with Johnny Alf and Alaide Costa first, then teamed up with Ribeiro and Andrade. I saw them playing with Alf & Costa in a tiny club in Austria and it was really amazing.

if i'm not mistaken, pery Ribeiro was one of the vocalists for Sergio Mendes' Bossa Rio group in the US during those years when he "wasn't recording."

Olá Zeca!
Não acredito... é um sonho realizado. Tenho este vinil (que está ,literalmente, furando).
Esta gravação de Coisas (Taiguara), para mim, foi o momento de consagração do Pery.
Muito obrigada pelo presente.
Beijos,
Patrícia
