This is Banda Black Rio - Maria Fumaca (1977), for WEA BR, a breathtaking fusion of Soul, Samba, Funk and many other influences performed by best of breed musicians in the style. This is a guaranteed entertainment, even if you are not in the mood for black music style. WoW! This the best BBR record for me and one of the best soul collection ever released in Brazil. Enjoy.
This is really cool. Thanks from Jörn
Zeca, ha uns 8 anos achei esse disco na Virgin Records, em pleno Times Square! Comprei no ato pois no Rio, nem pensar! Vou baixar que os caras balançam prá caramba!
Salute everyone! My brother was the guitar and arranjer{Claudio Stevenson) from BBR and I am pleased to see the Vinyl Version here. They actually recorded 4 albuns ."The Bicho Baile Show live with Caetano Veloso in 1978 ,wich is my favourite. There is also a lot more with the singers: Carlos Dafe,Sandra Sa,Alcione,The Soundtrack from the movie "Sabado Alucinante",etc Best,Livia
"This is a guaranteed entertainment, even if you are not in the mood for black music style".
So, black music is not necessarily guaranteed to entertain. What a fallacy! That is like saying: You will have a great orgasm, even if you are not a fan of sex. Anyway, thanks for the LP.
TMAT - Unfortunately you don't understand that 'black music' is a term used by Brazilians IN ENGLISH to describe all soul and RnB influenced music in Brasil whether played by black people or not. It may sound very peculiar in English and not politically correct, but that's the way it is...
Zeca was not making the kind of statement that you imagined so you can calm down a little and just enjoy the music....

Mr. Neto,
Ummmm, did I ever insinuate Zeca associating black music style with just black people. Not at all. Whether you like it or not, in Brazil, Canada, Germany, The Solomon Islands, etc, a fallacy is a fallacy. Also, I always enjoy the music and I always stay relatively calm...

Damn, I slept on this one and now I see Mos Def has sampled Casa Forte for his song Casa Bey. Thanks!
Mos Def didn't sample Casa Forte, he just rapped over the entire song, and he didn't even credit Banda Black Rio for it. Lame.
