MPB-4 - Antologia (1974)

This is in response of a friend who shouted at CBox for MPB-4 Antologia. I thought he was wrong, taking Quarteto em Cy - Antologia do Samba Cancao by mistake. I was a surprise to confirm MPB-4 Antologia existence and also to realize the album follows the same concept of Quarteto em Cy equivalent. Actually, MPB-4 Antologia was released one year before Quarteto em Cy both volumes. This is really nice. Everyday I learn a new thing at Loronix. Let's see.

This is MPB-4 - Antologia (1974), for Philips, featuring medleys of selected artists, such like Antonio Carlos Jobim, Ismael Silva, Paulinho da Viola, Baden Powell and others. Quarteto em Cy has a major participation on Monsueto, Chico Buarque and Ataulfo Alves medleys. Antologia is really a great find; very nice to known it is predecessor of Quarteto em Cy. Thanks to CBox friend for pointing to us. Antologia also features Paulo Moura, Luiz Claudio Ramos, Miguel Cidras and Mario Tavares as special guests. Tracks include:

01 - MONSUETO - Me Deixa Em Paz (Monsueto / Airton Amorim) - Featuring: Quarteto Em Cy A Fonte Secou (Monsueto / Tufic Lauar / Marcléo) - Featuring: Quarteto Em Cy Mora na Filosofia (Monsueto / Arnaldo Passos) - Featuring: Quarteto Em Cy Eu Quero Essa Mulher (Monsueto / José Batista) - Featuring: Quarteto Em Cy

I'm amazed and touched by the cover of the album. There you can see a portrait (or a photo, as to say) of each composer of the songs and you can almost see the personality of each composer in the photos... especially if you know which kind of music they make, it's really cool to look at them that way.

I started taking a ook at Noel Rosa and realized he should named "white boy" in the samba gatherings... And just by his side is Monsueto, a true black Brazilian and, well, the photo speaks for itself... you see the chilling expression of Noel Rosa and a real sort of crazy Monsueto, probably in the middle of a very good samba session... :-)

Well, the cover is way cool and I'll go to sleep with this album, which I've never hear before. And I'm sure it'll be a great experience. Sometimes, only few times, you can tell a good album by the cover. Here's an example.
