Music Video - Manha de Carnaval | from Orfeu Negro (1959)

Hello, good evening! And Happy New Year! I made today an important achievement on my Bossa Nova education, watching for the first time the original 1959 Marcel Camus Orfeu Negro (Black Orpheus) movie. Now I understand why this movie had a major role on leverage Bossa Nova popularity outside of Brazil, it is a nice movie 50 years later; I can't realize how good it would be watching for the first time in 1959. I decided to start 2008 with this excerpt of Orfeu Negro, when Orfeu shows his new song for the first time to two kids with Eurydice dancing around the place. The song is Manha de Carnaval.

Hope uEnjoy!

Zeca, This movie made me a brazilian. From that day on, I'm more brazilian than anything else. The music was captivating. I learned to play guitar the same way they play there, to make the sun come up.
This is a film I'll never forget.
I saw it in 1959.
