Walter Wanderley e Portinho - Orgao, Sax e Sexy (1964)

Hello, good evening! As told, Walter Wanderley is among us and bringing Maestro Portinho, delivering a blend of organ and sax, really unusual. In case you missed something about these giants, Walter Wanderley was a legend, acknowledged as one of the best Brazilian organists. He also made a solid career in the United State, releasing several records. Walter Wanderley passed away in 1986, United States, almost forgotten to the masses. It is sad that nobody remembers who Walter Wanderley was. Make a test, ask about Walter Wanderley for your friends with less than 30. Only a few will be able to say.

Maestro Portinho, is also a well-know musician to Loronix community and one of my favorite maestros. According with Zarville - Loronix Official Orchestra Music Advisor - Portinho is the Brazilian Maestro who is the best on mixing Samba and orchestral arrangements. Portinho is also an instrumentalist, play sax and clarinet. He also recorded some Choro albums. If there is something in common between these two musicians, I believe it is their constant work in studios, they were very active. Let's see.

This is Walter Wanderley e Portinho - Orgao, Sax e Sexy (1964), for Philips, released just after Entre Nos, the first Walter Wanderley album recorded for Philips, which is one that I like very much. This cover artwork explains the repertoire of romantic tunes. Personnel listing was not made available by Philips. I hope you Enjoy this really hard to find Walter Wanderley LP. Tracks include:

01 - Eu Sei Que Vou Te Amar (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
02 - Castigo (Dolores Duran)
03 - Fale Baixinho (Portinho / Heitor Carillo)
04 - A Noite do Meu Bem (Dolores Duran)

Hello, good evening! In the year of 1978, RCA released a tribute album in honor of Bossa Nova 20th year's anniversary, "Velha" Bossa Nova, featuring musicians from RCA cast or from the record labels later acquired or merged by or with RCA. This is the short intro of one of the best compilations I have heard in decades. Believe me? Let's see.

This is "Velha" Bossa Nova (1978), for RCA Candem, from now, the album to use as the perfect introduction for those who want to know Bossa Nova on a single spin. I made some scans with relevant information about each track, including performer and year of recording. This album should guarantee a solid listing across this weekend. Tracks include:

Eduardo Gudin - Coracao Marginal (1978)

Hello, good evening! Maysa Matarazzo TV Globo's special continues dropping new friends at Loronix. Since the show started, we are receiving an average of additional 1,000 new visitors daily. It is a very interesting phenomenon. People watch TV and use the Internet to get additional information about Maysa. I think most of these new friends will visit Loronix regularly after the end of the show; they have something in common with us, the music from Brazil.

I have been receiving requests of new albums by Maysa, unfortunately, the ones I have are commercially available and I cannot make them. Anyway, Maysa is available at Loronix archives and you can use Find It! or the new widget -- in your right at Loronix side bar -- to reach them.

Good. The music today comes from the 1970's decade, courtesy of a very important Brazilian artist that never had an album available at Loronix. Let's see.

This is Eduardo Gudin - Coracao Marginal (1978), for Continental, featuring the Brazilian singer and composer Eduardo Gudin performing his own compositions. Eduardo Gudin is active since 1968, at 16, invited by Elis Regina to perform at her O Fino da Bossa TV show. Since them, Eduardo Gudin compositions were recorded by renowned Brazilian artists such as Dick Farney, Paulinho da Viola, Elizeth Cardoso, Beth Carvalho, Clara Nunes and many others. Coracao Marginal brings Eduardo Gudin backed by that constellation of Brazilian musicians as every good album recorded in Brazil at the 1970's. Maestro Jose Briamonte is in charge of arrangements and the session features legends like Milton Banana, Neco, Wilson das Neves, Dino 7 Cordas, Nelsinho and others. Personnel listing is available below. Tracks include:

Zimbo Trio - Zimbo (1976)

Hello, good evening! Loronix received many new visitors today. Everything started at 10p.m. when we had on a single hour more than 300 visits, above the 120 average of a Monday evening. I had a lot of work to identify the reason, what was driving new people to Loronix late at night. The answer came from the analysis of the referral logs; everybody was using Google, mainly Google Image Search to find pictures of Maysa Matarazzo. TV Globo started today a novel based at Maysa career, directed by Maysa son's Jayme Monjardim. Immediately, I started digging my collection after an album recorded by Maysa, but I could not make it today. In the other hand, I found this one sleeping on a very hard to reach part of my wardrobe and it was very nice to hear it after three years, since it was made available in the middle of 2006. Let's see.

This is Zimbo Trio - Zimbo (1976), for RGE, featuring the special guests Hector Costita and Heraldo do Monte. Even if you already have the first Loronix issue you should take this one in consideration. The cover has now a hi-res scan, including the back cover and the music has a new transfer, including the alternative FLAC files. My favorite track is the opening 01 - Fe Cega, Faca Amolada (Milton Nascimento / Ronaldo Bastos), but as a 19Mb track, I could not make it available at Loronix Preview Center. 04 - Vai de Aracaju (Rubens Barssotti) is available there and it is also a really nice choice. Tracks include:

Personnel

Amilton Godoy
(piano)

Luiz Chaves
(bass)

Rubinho
(drums)

Hector Costita
(flute, sax)

Heraldo do Monte
(violao, guitar)

Track List

01 - Fé Cega Faca Amolada (Milton Nascimento / Ronaldo Bastos)
02 - Tudo Bem (Amilton Godoy)
03 - Brincando (Luis Chaves)
04 - Vai de Aracajú (Rubens Barsotti)
05 - Viola Violar (Milton Nascimento / Márcio Borges)
06 - Poliedro (Tito)
07 - Laurecy Até Já (Rubens Barsotti / Amilton Godoy)

Simonetti e Sua Orquestra - Dance com Simonetti (1961)

Hello, good evening! It is really, really nice to share another album recorded by Maestro Simonetti. It is also really amazing to know that this one never had a previous release at Loronix. I think Simonetti has many fans among Loronix's community, such like Caetano Rodrigues, another Simonetti enthusiast that should be really pleased to see this one. By the way, this cover is simple, but is very beautiful and very efficient to sell this kind of album. Let's see.

This is Simonetti e Sua Orquestra - Dance com Simonetti (1961), for RGE, featuring renditions a Brazilian and international repertoire in the "Para Dancar" style. Simonetti was born in Italy, came to Brazil in 1949, staying until the mid 1960's, when he decided to come back to his homeland in Italy. Simonetti was very famous in Brazil, recording several albums, writing arrangements to renowned Brazilian artists, such like: Maysa, Agostinho dos Santos, Elza Laranjeira, Dick Farney, Leny Eversong, and many others. He was an active songwriter to Vera Cruz, a famous Brazilian movie studio and also a host of shows in Brazilian TV. My knowledge on Simonetti activities in Italy is very limited, feel free to send comments if you have additional information. Tracks include:

01 - O Homem do Braço de Ouro (Delilah Jones) (S. Fyne / E. Bernstein)

Tom Jobim e Billy Blanco - Serie Idolos da MPB 7 (1974)

Hello, good evening! I would like to give my sincere apologies for a non-planned hiatus during the whole weekend. We are in the final stages for launching of a new website. It is not necessary to say this website is about Brazilian music and especially about Brazilian musicians. It is an amazing project, which will pay back all the effort we are putting in these final days. Stay tuned.

Speaking about this album, don't let the appearances cheat you as I was. I always thought this record as a given reissue of the essential Antonio Carlos Jobim and Billy Blanco's Sinfonia do Rio de Janeiro, released for the first time by Continental in 1954. In fact it is. Side A features a remastered version of the whole 1954 album. However, Continental delivers remastered cuts taken from 78rpms with very important recordings, and this is what makes this album a winner. Let's see.

This is Tom Jobim e Billy Blanco - Serie Idolos MPB 7 (1974), for Continental, featuring a constellation of Brazilian artists performing Sinfonia do Rio de Janeiro on side A and really nice Continental 78rpm remasterings featuring Antonio Carlos Jobim music performed by Luiz Bonfa, Dick Farney, Lucio Alves, Nora Ney, Dora Lopes and Doris Monteiro. Irany Pinto e Seu Conjunto - Sambas em Surdina (1959)

Hello, good evening! I cannot remember a busy and great week such as this one at Loronix. We had many events and a LOT of work. We had an important milestone reaching 3 million page views. Our funding campaign was also an extraordinary event. Loronix community could gather a considerable amount of money to purchase a dedicated server. I thought that it would take 20 days to accomplish our target and in only 2 days our goal was reached.

Your response brings a great responsibility, and I decided to give a immediate response, putting the server in action in only two days. Actually, there were four days of intensive work, two days setting up the entire server and two days preparing our new website, Loronix Happy Hour, so far a great success, with over 150 subscriptions from several countries.

The greatest Happy Hour functionality is the availability of the last Loronix day with no Rapidshare, making things much easier for those who follow Loronix on a daily basis.

Well, I spoke a lot, but I did not say how much I am satisfied with Loronix and the community that was created around the website. Thank you.

This is Irany Pinto e Seu Conjunto – Sambas em Surdina (1959), for Odeon, featuring the Brazilian violinist Irany Pinto, a true legend, such as Fafa Lemos. Irany Pinto was active on recordings, releasing more than 20 LPs between the late 50’s until the 70’s. Musicians in this session were not credited by Odeon. Remember that Sambas em Surdina will be available with no Rapidshare at Loronix Happy Hour until tomorrow. Tracks include:

01 - Feitico da Vila (Noel Rosa / Vadico)
02 - Caminhemos (Herivelto Martins)
03 - No Rancho Fundo (Lamartine Babo / Ary Barroso)
04 - Eu Nao Existo Sem Voce (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
05 - Copacabana (Joao de Barro / Alberto Ribeiro)
06 - Minha Prece (Haroldo Eiras / Ciro V. Cunha)
07 - Castigo (Dolores Duran)
08 - Molambo (Jaime Florence "Meira" / Augusto Mesquita)
09 - Ouca (Maysa)

Bola Sete - Bola 7 e 4 Trombones (1958)

This post is the start of a series of other absolutely amazing posts, all part of an incredible contribution made by a tireless and respectful friend, with several years of contribution to Brazilian music (I think I spoke a lot!). From now one, we will get along with truly breathtaking music. Everything happened this Sunday and I confess that I'm still paralyzed with the amount of unbelievable albums I knew today.

I was like a child this afternoon, leaving everything aside and listening to records that never imagined could exist. This is the reason of a bit of suspense across this Monday, I did not have time to prepare a properly introduction to the author of this series of contributions. I would like to show at least the tip of the iceberg today with an album that I was hunting for many years, which is better than my most optimistic expectations. Let's see.

This is Bola Sete - Bola 7 e 4 Trombones (1958), for Odeon, the first Bola Sete album from the 50's at Loronix, recorded before he made his move to the United States. Bola Sete delivers guitar playing with four trombones, drums and percussion on a truly amazing session. There are lots of funs inside this album, you can check at Loronix Preview Center what I'm saying, with Bola Sete playing a fantastic rendition of Eu Quero um Samba (Guio de Moraes), I'm confident that 10 seconds of listening should be enough to make your decision. It is really amazing to hear an early work of Bola Sete for the first time. Unfortunately, Odeon did not credit the four trombonists, as all others. Tracks include:

01 - Não Vou Pra Brasília (Billy Blanco)
02 - Mambeando (Bola Sete)
03 - Mister Jimmy (Bola Sete)
04 - The Man I Love (Ira Gershwin / George Gershwin)
05 - Intrigas no Boteco do Padilha (Luis Americano)
06 - Foi Você (Oscar Bellandi / Paulo Gesta)
07 - Eu Quero Um Samba (Guio de Morais)
08 - Calypsilone (Bola Sete)
09 - Pitéuzinho (Bola Sete)
10 - Jersey Bounce (Pister / Bradshaw / Johnson / Wright)
11 - Manãna (D. Barbour / P. Lee)
12 - Ouça (Maysa) Do-ré-mi (Fernando César / Nazareno de Brito) Maria (Ary Barroso / Luis Peixoto)

Norma Bengell - Norma Canta Mulheres (1977)

Hello, good evening! We have a good reason to postpone the start of our Samba Saturday at Loronix, the International Women's Day is being celebrated today and this post is Loronix homage to all women in the world, being also celebrated by Leo Ribeiro and Martoni at their Forma e Elenco Radio Show. I would like also to thanks JOAO-SP and the friends of CBox for shouting about this date, I have to admit that I was not aware of this important date.

Anyway, a special date requires a special post and this one is really special featuring Norma Bengell and her second and last career LP released by Elenco. Let's see.

This is Norma Bengell - Norma Canta Mulheres (1977), for Elenco, featuring Norma Bengell performing a repertoire with songs composed by girls, no room for men compositions here. This is a fantastic album that follows on that "cannot wait longer" category, it is incredibly hard to find and this copy is not my vinyl transfer. The back cover is missing from the download package and personnel listing is probably incomplete, I'm not sure about it. Sivuca plays a major role at Norma Canta Mulheres, delivering arrangements and playing. If someone has additional information to provide, I will be pleased to update this post with full personnel listing. Tracks include:

Personnel
(partial)

Sivuca
(arrangements)
Rosinha de Valenca

Maysa - Maysa (1974)

Here we go with an extraordinary launch-time album, supposed to be released yesterday, but delayed by last minute technical problems. This is Maysa last career album, released by Evento, an Odeon subsidiary in charge of the mighty Aloysio de Oliveira. The label Evento - by the way very similar to the legendary "Elenco" - had a short life launching only 6 records, three compilations and three unpublished albums, this last Maysa Mattarazzo LP, Billy Blanco and his Paulistana - Um Retrato de uma Cidade symphony and the mega rare collaboration between Oscar Castro Neves and Lee Ritenour - Um Encontro. Let's see.

This is Maysa - Maysa (1974), for Evento, courtesy of the great JOAO-SP. This is the third Evento album released at Loronix and they have the same cover artwork concept by Cesar G. Villela, which is great, but makes them looks the same each other. In the other hand, Aloysio de Oliveira delivers lots of information inside about the recording session, including the participation of Oscar Castro Neves as arranger (perhaps delivering piano and violao playing) and orchestra arrangements from Lindolpho Gaya. Unfortunately, Aloysio de Oliveira did not credit musicians in the session. The whole story is available in the panorama picture bellow, also included in a high-res scan inside the music. Thanks once again JOAO-SP for another great contribution. Tracks include:

01 - Bloco da Solidão (Jair Amorim / Evaldo Gouveia)
02 - Agora É Cinza (Alcebíades Barcelos "Bide" / Armando "Marçal")
03 - Não Sei (No Other Love) (Russell / Weston / Vrs. Aloysio de Oliveira)
04 - Castigo (Maysa) Fim de Caso (Dolores Duran)
05 - Não É Mais Meu (Erlon Chaves / David Nasser / Maysa)
06 - Morrer de Amor (Oscar Castro Neves / Luvercy Fiorini)
07 - Você Abusou (Antônio Carlos Marques / Jocafi)
08 - Rasguei a Minha Fantasia (Lamartine Babo)
09 - O Grande Amor (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
10 - Os Olhos da Madrugada (Carlos Lyra)
11 - Até Quem Sabe (Mercedes Chies / João Donato / Lysias Ênio)
12 - Hoje É Dia de Amor (Luis Bonfá / Maria Helena Toledo)

Caetano Veloso, Maria Bethania & Gilberto Gil - Velloso, Bethania, Gil (1968)

Here we go on another nice album, courtesy of the great JOAO-SP and his package of LPs featuring so far Maysa, Os Demonios da Garoa, Quinteto Violado, Adoniran Barbosa, Radames Gnattali and Rafael Rabello, Paulinho Nogueira, Nara Leao & Roberto Menescal and Elis Regina with Zimbo Trio. There is more to come and we did not reach 50% of JOAO-SP albums. Let's see another.

Maysa - Ando So Numa Multidao de Amores (1970)

The first thing I want to say is THANKS JOAO-SP for providing us such great contributions. JOAO-SP sent us more than 30 LPs; they are all new to our community, such as this beauty recorded by Maysa, one of the greatest Brazilian divas, not released at Loronix since May 2007. I had also some difficulty to realize this album was not a book, a Maysa biography written by Lira Neto last year. I cannot remember this album being released on CD and I cannot understand why it was not released together with the book, since both shares the same title. Let's see.

This is Maysa - Ando So Numa Multidao de Amores (1971), for Philips. Little I know about this album, except it is produced and directed by Roberto Menescal and arranged by Luiz Eca and Roberto Menescal. I think Luiz Eca also delivers piano playing to Maysa, perhaps our great friend Thiago Mello from Bossa Brasileira, who knows everything about Maysa, can add something on top of my text. I think we will be on great company with Maysa. I wish to send a great Carnaval Monday to friends from Brazil and a great week start to everybody. Tracks include:

01 - Molambo (Jaime Florence "Meira" / Augusto Mesquita)
02 - Yo Sin Ti (Arturo Castro)
03 - Me Deixe Só (Roberto Menescal / Maysa)
04 - Chuvas de Verão (Fernando Lobo)
05 - Três Lágrimas (Ary Barroso)

Antonio Carlos Jobim & Billy Blanco - Sinfonia do Rio de Janeiro (1960)

A research was needed to complete understand this album, which is the reissue of the second recording made by Continental of Antonio Carlos Jobim and Billy Blanco Sinfonia do Rio de Janeiro. Continental made the first Sinfonia do Rio de Janeiro recording in 1954 using the 10-inch format. Continental made it again in 1960, using different performers and taking advantage of the 12-inch format, including more tracks on Side B, an extended version of Sinfonia do Rio de Janeiro on Side A with a whole group of new performers compared with the ones in the 1954 session. This is the 1981 reissue of the 1960 session, an album that I did not know the existence and should amaze everybody, such as I was amazed when found it on one of those R$ 1,00 boxes. Let's see.

This is Antonio Carlos Jobim & Billy Blanco - Sinfonia do Rio de Janeiro (1960), for Continental, presented here with the 1981 Continental reissue, featuring Radames Gnattali arrangements, orchestra and a constellation of performers, including Maysa, Os Cariocas, Severino Filho, Jamelao, Ted Moreno, among others. Loronix Preview Center brings track 03 - Copacabana, performed by Maysa. Tracks include:

Bene Nunes - Bene Nunes e Seu Piano (1958)

This album came to us a couple of months ago via MailbigFile. I got really amazed with this nice cover with the piano, but I did not move further hearing or researching about it. I knew that Bene Nunes is a gifted pianist with participation on Bossa Nova, friend of the president of Brazil Juscelino Kubistcheck and husband of singer Dulce Nunes. I was speaking with a friend today and he said something about a Bene Nunes album with participation of Antonio Carlos Jobim, Radames Gnattali and Severino Filho and I instantly remembered this one. Perhaps I'm wrong, this is a widely unknown participation of these three great musicians and this is really worth checking. Let's see.

This is Bene Nunes - Bene Nunes e Seu Piano (1958), for Continental, featuring Bene Nunes piano with orchestral arrangements by Antonio Carlos Jobim, Radames Gnattali and Severino Filho from Os Cariocas. I think I will only rest quiet when I get this vinyl, to take a look at the back cover and make another digital transfer. If the anonymous contributor reads us, please drop me a line, so we can get along to know more about this album. Tracks include:

Varios Artistas - Matematica, Zero... Amor, Dez (1958)

This album was supposed to be one of the greatest zecalouro's mother findings ever. Let's say it still her great finding, but there is a major and unacceptable failure with this album. The vinyl played perfect on side A, however, side B is exactly the same as side A. Columbia made both sides as A by mistake. Such like the missing Joao Gilberto track, I'm now asking for Loronixers help to find the missing side B of this fantastic album. Let's see, half of it.

This is Matematica, zero... Amor, Dez... (1958), for Columbia, the OST of the Brazilian movie, featuring a constellation at t cast with acting performances of Lyrio Panicali (as Lyrio Panicali e Sua Orquestra), Tito Madi, Lana Bittencourt, Maysa Mattarazo (as Maysa), Sylvio Mazzucca (as Sylvio Mazucca e Sua Orquestra), Sergio Murilo, Carlos Machado, Luiz Claudio and others, almost all the artists we know acting. Unfortunately, only side A is available. Tracks include:

01 - Menina Moça (Luis Antônio) - Tito Madi
02 - Na Baixa do Sapateiro (Ary Barroso) - Lana Bittencourt
03 - Sax Cantabile (Armando Dominguez) - Silvio Mazzuca e Sua Orquestra
04 - Avental da Pastora (Luis Antônio / Amado Regis) - Coro Columbia
05 - Rosa Morena (Dorival Caymmi) - Trigêmeos Vocalistas
06 - Vassourinha (Mathias da Rocha / Joana Batista Ramos) - Lyrio Panicali e Sua Orquestra
07 - On The Button (Nº 5) (J. J. Donnelly / V. L. Mott) - Banda Marcial do Corpo de Fuzileiros Navais
08 - O Milagre da Volta (Fernando César / A. Cavalcanti) - Lana Bittencourt (*)

Billy Blanco - Historia da Musica Popular Brasileira Nr. 32 (1971)

I'm not sure that everybody will remember when I introduced Loronixers to a series of albums dedicated to Brazilian artists with Chico Buarque edition on Historia da Musica Popular Brasileira - Serie Grandes Compositores. You can check Chico Buarque album here.

Now it is time to get along with another series, which is my favorite, Historia da Musica Popular Brasileira, easily identified by this back cover. This series was released from 1970 to 1971 and it is very easy to find on old vinyl shops in Rio. Each edition comes with biography, beautiful color photos and something that is really great an LP in the 10-inch format featuring a compilation.

This is Billy Blanco - Historia da Musica Popular Brasileira Nr. 32 (1971), for Abril Cultural, featuring eight Billy Blanco compositions, performed by Lucio Alves, Isaura Garcia, Jorge Veiga, Doris Monteiro, Maysa, Jamelao, Wilson Simonal and Billy Banco. I think Billy Blanco choice is correct; he is a very important Bossa Nova artist with less than a few albums available at Loronix. Tracks include:

The Performers

Lucio Alves
Isaura Garcia
Jorge Veiga
Doris Monteiro
Maysa
Jamelao
Billy Blanco
Wilson Simonal

Track List

Maysa & Tito Madi - Dois na Fossa (1975)

I never gave the deserved attention to this album and I decided to give it a spin tonight. The first track worth the admission price. Perhaps the last time I heard Maysa was months ago, when her voice spread over the house I started feeling great and the tracks with Maysa, Tito Madi, Maysa, Tito Madi, etc. makes it very nice to hear. I don't have idea if these tracks were released before on regular albums, but I'm sure RCA made a great repertoire selection. Let's see.

This is Maysa & Tito Madi - Dois Na Fossa (1975), for RCA Candem. There are some very good tracks on Dois na Fossa. Fantasia de Trombones and Fantasia de Cellos are performed by Maysa and each one brings three songs. They are great. Tito Madi performs some tunes of the almost impossible to find Tito Madi - Tito Madi em Nova Dimensao (1968), they are: Helena, Helena, Helena, Franqueza, A Mesma Historia Antiga, Sem Ter Que Chorar and others. Tracks include:

01 - "Fantasia de Trombones" Demais / Meu Mundo Caiu / Preciso Aprender a Ser Só - Maysa
02 - Helena Helena Helena - Tito Madi
03 - Ne Me Quitte Pas - Maysa
04 - A Mesma História Antiga - Tito Madi
05 - Canção Sem Título - Maysa
06 - Sem Ter Que Chorar - Tito Madi
07 - "Fantasia de Cellos" Primavera / Eurídice / Canção do Amanhecer - Maysa
08 - Franqueza - Tito Madi
09 - Just In Time - Maysa
10 - Chove Outra Vez - Tito Madi

Sao Paulo Bossa Nova | Brazil 1

Sao Paulo represents 17% of Loronixers in Brazil and deserves this position. I have been in Sao Paulo several times in my life for Business, being the last two times to visit Caetano and hunt for records. It was enough to change several things in my mind about the city and people. People in Sao Paulo have a different attitude when together over a community such like Loronix, they value and put effort to be in touch with each other on a open and friendly environment. I have been learning a lot by Loronix affairs with Sao Paulo and I want to say THANKS to everybody who lives in this great city.

São Paulo is to Brazil what New York is to the United States - a cosmopolitan city, bristling with business activity and people from all over the world - both executives on the road and immigrants who settled there for good. And it shows in the music. A melting pot of civilizations, you will find a bit of everything in Sao Paulo. If you move to the interior, you will be immersed in country music, Sao Paulo style - at its best, very different from US country music, for instance. It is more subdued, more romantic and laid back.

But it is in the capital city that Sao Paulo shows the strength of its culture - it is there that experiments tend to be made, there you will find the avant-garde of Brazilian music, the absorption of the newest trends, mingled with local roots, the sounds of Europe, Asia and all of Brazil. Music for the night, for the brains and the body. Purely São Paulo.

This is Sao Paulo Bossa Nova, Caetano's compilation for the most connected Brazilian city at Loronix, featuring:

Bossa Nova nas Gerais | Brazil 3

I will not hide my sympathy for the great State of Minas Gerais, my second State in Brazil. When I was a kid, I use to spend three months in Minas Gerais every year on a city located on south called Sao Lourenco. Minas Gerais is all about nature, bike ridings at the mountains and also birds. I have some of my birds there, they had to go away for living a better life and bring peace to my neighbors, they were about to expel me a couple of years ago.

Minas Gerais is a very special place; it was there that gold was first found in Brazil, spawning a rich culture during the Baroque period -- with the churches, status and classical music all around. It was there that many Portuguese noblemen came to live and make money, bringing along the tradition of European instruments and styles -- especially the music of bards and serenaders.

But Minas Gerais put a spin on it, as they do with everything is easy to sense and feel the style: never aggressive, very melodic, subtle, full of surprising harmonies to be played and sung carefully. It is well known in Brazil that people from Minas Gerais are expert at conversations that can last for hours. The same applies to their music: it feels like good conversation, acoustic guitar at hand, or the local form of the Spanish / Moorish with several different tunings, weaving sound around beautiful lyrics.

This is Bossa Nova nas Gerais, Caetano's compilation with Bossa Nova classics performed by renowned Brazilian artists and groups, featuring.
