Portinho e Sua Orquestra Escaldante - Fogo nos Metais (1971)

Hello, Good Night! Today was dedicated to housekeeping, not at Loronix, I'm talking about the real world. I received several new albums and bought some others during the remaining weeks, so I decided to wash them all. It is easy; all you need is water, soap and your hands as a brush, making circles on the same orientation of the needle. In the middle of the work, I found this one to start our day.

This is Portinho e Sua Orquestra Escaldante - Fogo nos Metais (1971), for Copacabana. It was very nice to hear Portinho on a late album; we are used to hear his LPs from the early 60's. Portinho uses the same approach of Juarez on his 1976 release, taking a more popular repertoire with more percussion instruments on the set. I said that Maestro Portinho is the master of mixing Samba with orchestra and he makes it again. This cover is alone a reason to be attracted by this record with Portinho in the middle of his musicians and instruments. Tracks include:

Ipanema Pop Orchestra - Bossa Nova Meets USA (1965)

I received two emails asking why Elizeth Cardoso, Zimbo Trio and Jacob do Bandolim LP is divided in four different files, the reason is quite simple, it is a double LP and was record with the always requested 320Kbps. That's why it was splitted on that way. This should not be a barrier to listen to that legendary record that really worth the download with four parts.

Anyway, remember the first Ipanema Pop Orchestra LP released with the help of Caetano Rodrigues? I'm sure that everybody remembers, it was very successful, featuring three Brazilian arrangers, Luiz Eça, Eumir Deodato and Maestro Cipo. They are now back, with different arrangers and the same concept.

Meirelles and K-Ximbinho, one of my favorite artists that unfortunately released a few records, all very hard to find. Anna Lucia - O Encanto e a Voz de Anna Lucia (1961)

Friends, I'm really moved by that Ze Carioca film. I think many friends from Brazil in the age of 35 to 45 are having the same feeling. Anyway, the show must go on.

We will see here a great Brazilian singer on another fine Caetano release. By the way, people think that I'm an expert on Brazilian music and this really surprises me. I've been with the music for many years, but I learned several new things with Loronix. Actually, everyday I learn something new. Refer is responsible for many discoveries and this artist was pointed out by him. I think I'm still emotive with Ze Carioca, he remembers me zecalouro, my great green friend. He is sleeping right now; I will go there to scratch his head for a while after this post. Let's proceed.

This is Anna Lucia - O Encanto e a Voz de Anna Lucia (1961), for Philips, already released at Loronix by Mr. K and now improved by Caetano with the high quality music and cover artwork that this great record deserves. As most of the early 60's and late 50's LPs, we have an Orchestra guiding Ana Lucia throughout the set lead by Maestro Carlos Monteiro de Souza, one of my favorites. The repertoire is outstanding and as The Jazzman says you should run to it, now walk. Tracks include:

Movie | Alo Amigos! (1942) with Ary Barroso and Aloysio de Oliveira

We have here a great, great, great film sent by Jean Yves (Jean do Trombone) to be used in a possible future tribute or homage to Aloysio de Oliveira and Ary Barroso. Sorry Jean, I could not wait. The nice parrot you see above is my friend Ze Carioca, a Disney cartoon character created in 1942 for the movie Alo Amigos (Saludo Amigos), which is the movie you see below and you should not miss. The music is from Ary Barroso and Aloysio de Oliveira sings.

Thanks Jean Yves for pointing this amazing piece of happiness made 65 years ago and fresh as made yesterday.

Juarez - Sax Maravilha Sambas (1976)

Hello, Good Night! I had a meeting today at Rio de Janeiro, downtown area and this time I was really convinced that going back home after meeting end should be the best idea. I was wrong. Although my mind was really decided to go back home a strange force, such like a tractor ray, pushed my body in the direction of Emporio do Disco at Rua Goncalves Dias. I could only understand what happened in the two hours out of my consciousness later on having a snack and figuring out why my fingers were so dirty. Loronixers will appreciate it. The fishing was amazing.

This is Juarez - Sax Maravilha Sambas (1976), for CID. I'm very happy with this record, but very disappointed to do not have the original issue with the amazing cover you can see at your left eye. The record name was changed to Saxsambando in its 1983 re-issue, for the same CID, and the cover artwork is not inspiring as the original one. Anyway, it is a Juarez LP; to please Loronixers and make our friends Caetano Rodrigues, bossanovadreamer and Jean Yves hit the ceiling. The repertoire is popular, based on 70's radio hits. Lucio Alves - Cantando Depois do Sol (1961)

Sometimes you need to yell "STOP THE PRESS", that's exactly what happened a few minutes ago; the bossanovadreamer just sent an amazing contribution that I had to change the plans for today. I have been speaking with the bossanovadreamer for some weeks about one of the greatest Brazilian singers that have few releases at Loronix. The bossanovadreamer bought this LP while in Brazil on one of that amazing vinyl shops downtown Rio.

The bossanovadreamer also asked to make this post dedicated to the great Caetano Rodrigues. He said Caetano is providing such great moments to Loronixers and the bossanovadreamer is sending this LP just to please Caetano and give feedback to the great amount of work and gratittude he is making to zeca and all Loronixers, specially the ones who Loves the Bossa Nova. Izio Gross e Seu Conjunto - Isto e Bossa

I was missing Caetano Rodrigues rarities from the 60's, the impossible to find and never heard before LPs. It is really exciting to hear something old, rare and unique for the fist time from an artist that you have only heard about. Thanks Caetano for another nice release. I took this one for a hearing and had a lot of fun with zecalouro today. Let's check together.

This is Izio Gross e Seu Conjunto - Isto e Bossa (60's), for Mocambo. Probably, you have never heard about Izio Gross before, Izio Gross is a Brazilian pianist, arranger that played with several renowned artists in the early sixty before leaving the country to an three year contract as a big band leader in Argentina. You will have guaranteed entertainment with this record that features Edison Machado on drums among others. Tracks include:

Announcement | Post Fixing - Wave II

I'm coming back from the week of June 11th. What I week! I have to admit, the several friends who were crying for the fix were absolutely write about that week. Most of the albums are really solid. Check by yourself at the rotator above. The week was not completely jeopardized, but at least is now powered by the new Rapidshare. I could live the rest of my days on a desert island with that albums, Julie London singing Cry me a River on my ear and Diana Krall playing the piano. Don't miss it.

Quarteto em Cy - Em Cy Maior (1968)

It is amazing the great feedback the girls from O Quarteto em Cy receives on each release at Loronix. The Debut LP for Forma, her last release with the green cover was truly amazing. I think today is the best day to bring Quarteto em Cy again to Loronix. I received this morning an e-mail from our Brazilian-French French-Brazilian Loronixer Jean Yves (Jean do Trombone) with historical information of Quarteto em Cy formations to Loronixers. I will show the work of Jean with a great Quarteto em Cy LP.
