Hello, good evening! We had a sunny and hot day in Rio de Janeiro with a very strong thunderstorm in the end of the evening. I believe in Murphy's Law, so I had to turn down the master switch of Loronix Data Center facilities (which is in fact a very old notebook) until thunders cease. Several thunders reach the sea, leaving a smell of ozone at the atmosphere.

That is the reason we are having another late start today. Additionally, Loronix hosting service at dreamhost.com has been out of service since yesterday. Life has not been easy down here. FLAC files will be postponed for tomorrow.

This is Aloysio e Seu Conjunto - Na Ciranda do Samba (1962), for Copacabana, featuring the Brazilian vocal group Os Modernistas with the crooner Cacau. Aloysio delivers groovy Hammond B3 organ playing on top of Samba renditions of Brazilian tunes. Everything works really nice with this album and Aloysio and his accompaniment band will amaze you, highly recommended and really in the spirit of a Samba Saturday at Loronix. Tracks include:

Here we go on a music video that really precious, featuring Paulinho da Viola, Elton Medeiros, Jair do Cavaquinho, Anescar do Salgueiro and Nelson Sargento, which is essentially, Conjunto A Voz do Morro. They perform on Brazilian TV and the year is 1980. Paulinho da Viola is really a genius and this video an awesome Samba celebration.

Severino Filho e Sua Orquestra de Dancas - Rio de Janeiro, Gosto de Voce (1958) featuring Os Cariocas

Hello, good evening! We are opening this Friday night with a truly amazing album. You should believe me. Before any other thing, two warnings are necessary, as follows: 1) In spite of the word "Dancas" at the album title, this is NOT a regular "Para Dancar" album, actually, by definition, this is not "Para Dancar" music. 2) Do not take it as an album recorded by Maestro Severino Araujo from Orquestra Tabajara, it is a very common mistake.

In the other hand, if you are not aware, Maestro Severino Filho is the leader of the Brazilian vocal group Os Cariocas, one of the greatest Brazilian musicians ever, still active with Os Cariocas since the foundation in 1942. I never heard about this album before and it is a great surprise since we have the participation of Os Cariocas. Let's see.

This is Severino Filho e Sua Orquestra de Dancas - Rio de Janeiro, Gosto de Voce (1958), for Polydor, featuring an orchestra conduced and arranged by Maestro Severino Filho with the participation of Os Cariocas in a couple of tracks. This album was released 49 years ago and the recording quality is really amazing. Severino Filho e Sua Orquestra de Dancas features a not credited vibraphone player that delivers a wonderful job on top of overwhelming orchestra arrangements by Maestro Severino Filho. Geraldo Vandre - Hora de Lutar (1965)

Geraldo Vandre is really a gifted artist, it seems impossible for him to make a regular album, always delivering challenging listens, being also very popular among Loronixers. In spite being a lyrics oriented artist, his popularity is quite the same among friends in Brazil and also overseas. Hora de Lutar has the participation of Baden Powell, playing violao in two songs. Let's see.

This is Geraldo Vandre - Hora de Lutar (1965), for Continental, which is the second LP recorded by Geraldo Vandre, presented with the vinyl transfer of 1969 Disco Lar reissue. I don't know if Disco Lar took the original Continental cover artwork for this reissue, however, it is a very beautiful cover. Geraldo Vandre wrote most of the tunes with 06 - Asa Branca (Luiz Gonzaga / Humberto Teixeira) and 12 - Sonho de um Carnaval (Chico Buarque) as the exceptions. Almir Ribeiro - Uma Noite no Cave (1957)

Hello, good evening! Very late start today at Loronix, perhaps it is the slow pace of another big weekend that is coming. Anyway, we are starting late, but starting great with another of those impossible to believe findings sponsored by zecalouro's mother. Mom is really a great finder, actually, she understand the business and has a nice understanding of what really matters and what should be left behind. This is an album that I did not know, featuring a great artist that left us very early. Let's see.

This is Almir Ribeiro - Uma Noite no Cave (1957), for Copacabana, in the 10-inch format. Almir Ribeiro was primarily a TV and Radio artist, making his option for the singer career very late on his short life. Almir would probably be one of the greatest Brazilian artists from the decades to come, but unfortunately his life was taken very early and tragically at the age of 22 in Uruguay, drowned at the beach.

Uma Noite no Cave is Almir Ribeiro debut LP, recorded with accompaniment of Conjunto do Cave, which is Cave nightclub support band in Sao Paulo, lead by Aloysio Figueiredo, also in charge of arrangements and musical direction. The back cover features liner notes written by Vinicius de Moraes saying that Almir Ribeiro would probably be one of the greatest Brazilian singers in the forthcoming years. Tracks include:

Forma & Elenco is a radio show broadcasted every Saturday on Brazilian radio and Internet streaming. I know there are many radios and many shows in Brazil. However, Forma & Elenco is really special, it is all about Bossa Nova and it is produced and presented by Leo Ribeiro Jr., a great Loronixer. Loronix and Forma & Elenco are connected; Leo uses to make the show agenda based on the music available at Loronix. Dom Salvador was nominated Cidadao Hemerito of Rio Claro city in June 2007, being there to receive his nomination and also give a concert. Guess who was there with Dom Salvador? Dilermando Reis - Subindo ao Ceu (1966)

Hello, good evening! This cover artwork is very beautiful, but every time I take a look, it makes me remember Nelson Cavaquinho, I will tell why. Nelson had a great fear of death, which is something clear at his compositions with several lyrics having death as a theme. Nelson Cavaquinho would never release an album like this, the clouds and the title, Subindo ao Ceu, free translated as Going up to the Sky, in English. Let's take this image and this title with another meaning, going up to the sky with the beautiful violao playing and compositions by Dilermando Reis, which is problably what Continental had in mind when creating this title and cover art. Let's see.

This is Dilermando Reis - Subindo ao Ceu (1966), for Continental, featuring only Dilermando Reis violao performing his own compositions. This is the second Dilermando Reis album made available to Loronxiers, much better than the first one with songs from several countries. Dilermando Reis delivers better results performing his own compositions.
