Resala's Band - Resala's Band (1969)

Warning, don't let the guy wearing a Tuxedo with the face of Mr. Bean with all these girls around him cheat you, I don't use to express my personal opinions about the albums, but with this one I want to break this rule, this LP is fantastic. Caetano said the same before giving it to us. If you buy the music by the cover, sometimes you have bad surprise and sometimes you have wonderful ones. I'm happy that this is an above average record.

This is Resala's Band - Resala's Band (1969), for RCA Victor. There is one thing that should be understood, Resala has a leader, Turquinho, the legendary drummer, already released with great success here. This is something different, a Jazz band LP lead by a drummer, so you will have a band of top-notch musicians supporting a drummer that plays wide and loud. I said it is not an any given LP, it is a record for grown-ups. Stay with tracks and personnel listing.

Personnel: Resala "Turquinho" (drums), Edgar "Capitão", Dorival "Buda", Erotides "Cunhado" and Waldir (pistom), Severino "Bill", Arlindo, Firmo, Francisco "Paco" and Iran (trombones), José Ferreira "Casé" and Arnaldo "Dinho" (sax alto), Helio Marinho and José Ribamar (sax tenor), Percio "Goiabinha" (sax baritono), Xu Viana and Gabriel (bass), Rubens "Rubão" (percussion), Paulo Lima, Zezinho and Mário Casali (Piano).

01 - Alfie (Burt Bacharach / H. David)
02 - Corrida de Jangada (Edu Lobo / Capinan)
03 - Yesterday (John Lennon / Paul McCartney)
04 - Tem Dó (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes)
05 - By The Time I Get To Phoenix (J. Webb)
06 - Sá Marina (Antônio Adolfo / Tibério Gaspar)
07 - Resala's Theme (Carlos Piper)
08 - Triste (Tom Jobim)
09 - Soulful Struth (E. Record / S. Sanders)
10 - Imagem (Luis Eça / Aloysio de Oliveira)
11 - F Comme Femme (Adamo)
12 - This Girl Is In Love With You (Burt Bacharach / H. David)

Esse negócio de capa que não tem nada a ver me lembra o "Someday My Prince Will Come" do Miles Davis.
Aquela carinha branca de olhos com rímel, bem abertos, com um cabelo que parece peruca.
Vamos ver o Resala's.

Great band and nice LP. The music arrangements are "fresh" although the disc was recorded at the end of the sixties. The fact that the leader was the drummer is very similar to that of the Art Blackey band, one of my favourite drummers, and also the leader of his band.

Thanks Caetano and Zecalouro.

Geraldo Picanço,

A lenda escreve pela primeira vez no Loronix, sensacional. Tudo bem?
