This post is dedicated to The Jazzman, a great Loronixer that joinned us recently and since his first day does not hesitate on sending emails, shouting at the CBox and writing posts at the Forum. The Jazzman made a zecalouro picture a couple of days ago that I could not resist sharing with Loronixers, it is at the right as a smal picture and you can click to see it big. The Jazzman is a Billy Blanco fan and everyday remembers be to launch this anthological Billy Blanco record, that is what we will see right now.
This is Billy Blanco - Musicas de Billy Blanco na Voz do Proprio (1966), for Elenco, Billy Blanco debut LP and the first solo album at Loronix that Billy Blanco does what I like most of him, his beautiful and sweet voice that makes a nice counterpoint with his strong character with that big moustache that is all about Billy Blanco. Really nice, you cannot miss this record. I'm also showing a video featuring Billy Blanco and his grandchildren Pedro Sol, live at J-Club performing Teresa da Praia. Tracks include:
01 - Mocinho Bonito (Billy Blanco)
02 - Rio do Meu Amor (Billy Blanco)
03 - Minha Vida Com Tereza (Billy Blanco)
04 - Branca de Neve (Billy Blanco)
05 - Tio Alfredo (Billy Blanco)
06 - Secretária (Billy Blanco)
07 - Domingo Azul (Billy Blanco)
08 - Tchau Mesmo (Billy Blanco)
09 - Praça Mauá (Billy Blanco)
10 - Estrada do Nada (Billy Blanco)

If I remember right the name of the club that I first saw Billy Blanco was "Jazzmania". My friends from Rio took my wife and I there and it was "magic". The legendary Billy Blanco in his white suit. I'll never forget this.
Years later when we went back to Rio we saw Billy's son, I think he was called "Billininho" (meaning little Billy?) and I was very impressed.
During all my trips to ,frequenting the same great used record shop that our mentor Zeca goes to, I was surprised to find no one had Billy Blanco albums. It seems he had gone out favor. Why? I don't have a clue.
Thanks Zeca for Billy Blanco and all of you who have never heard him are in for a treat when you download this "gem".
Hello Jazzman,
you are absolutley right- Billy Blanco is really great- I had the luck to see last year in April one of this concerts at J Club Rio with his son and grandson-it was wonderful- after a set of Durval Ferreira and his group which was also very nice Billy Blanco gave a fantastic concert
This Elenco album is one of my favourite bossa albums.
Great Zeca and Jazzman-Caetano will be also very happy to see this I am sure.
Best wishes
oh my god... that was the most BORING bossa nova I have ever heard. Awful cheesy song, horrible singing.
Hello ... ?? "anonym"
Surley music is a thing of personal view- and this is good...it would be boring if everyone would like the same-every person has is own right to say what he thinks.. but I have to keep my hand special over Billy Blanco- bossa nova is a really "livefeeling" and the most important thing was never to have the best voice of the world- if you try also to understand a little bit the lyrics of Billy Blanco's songs they tell you a lot of the time and other cultural things in Brazil.A brasileiro could tell you really nore about since I only try to understand this. Also Billy Blanco is a great person!
That you don't like this album is surley OK- but horror are for me other things.
Best wishes
I also think this Elenco album by Billy Blanco is one of the best Bossa Nova albums. I can`t really understand why "anonym" made such a bad comment. I saw Billy live at J Club last year and was very impressed. He is a living legend.
