Pedrinho Mattar Trio - Bossa Nova Bossa Nova (1964)

I'm coming from dinner, where I had the chance to hear this LP for the first time. In spite of the outstanding recording quality made by Claudio Fragnan, this LP is since now an essential on my instrumental Bossa Nova short list. It is a great close to Pedrinho Mattar tribute at Loronix, several friends were asking and hunting this record for a long time and now I understand why everybody has been tracking it down.

This is Pedrinho Mattar Trio - Bossa Nova - Bossa Nova (1964), for Farroupilha. Instead of a quartet, Pedrinho Mattar combo was reduced to a trio on this formation, highlighting Pedrinho Mattar piano on foreground. It is not everyday that you hear such tight piano, bass and drums album. Pedrinho Mattar Trio features Pedrinho Mattar (piano), Mathias da Silva Mattos (bass) and Toninho Pinheiro (drums, with further participations at Jongo Trio and Som Tres). Tracks include:

- Samba Pro Pedrinho (Walter Santos)
- O Amor Que Acabou (Chico Feitosa / Luis Fernando Freire)
- Azul Contente (Walter Santos / Tereza Souza)
- Consolação (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes)
- Balanço Zona Sul (Tito Madi)
- Rimas de Ninguém (Vera Brasil)
- Nôa Nôa (Sergio Mendes)
- Beijo Swing (Geraldo Cunha / Milton de Paula)
- Sol (Mário Albanese)
- Cafuné (Denis Brean / Gilberto Martins)
- Eu Preciso de Você (Tom Jobim / Aloysio de Oliveira)
- A Mesma Rosa Amarela (Capiba / Carlos Penna Filho)
