Victor Assis Brasil - Desenhos (1966)

Victor Assis Brasil is the best Brazilian jazzman ever, praised internationally by renowned Jazz musicians such like John Coltrane, Phil Woods and many others. Victor has passed very early, with the age of 36, when he was at his peak. Caetano Rodrigues provided this record to Loronixers, which is Victor Assis Brasil debut LP and it is necessary to say it is an unique opportunity, this is a very hard to find album and this music was taken from the master tapes and is provided to us loose less, better than any other vinyl conversions take from other media. Thanks once again Caetano for providing a anthological record in such good quality.

This is Victor Assis Brasil - Desenhos (1966), for Forma, featuring the sax of Victor with the accompaniment of Tenório Júnior (piano), Edson Lobo, with the age of 19 (bass) and Chico Batera (drums). Victor had 19 years old at this recording session. Tracks include:

Colonel:

Did you mean reknown Jazz musicians like John Coltrane or Joe Carter? Either way this is one of my favorites recordings. Victor was an exceptional musician. I was told by friends who were at the Berklee School of Music in Boston when he was there that Victor showed a lot of Jazz students how to play Brasilian music correctly.

Highness,

Joe Carter is not a renowned musician; he is an unparallel musician, not mentioned on my writing due his worldwide recognition that makes his art out of any comparison criterion.

I heard or read somewhere that an hour with Victor Assis Brasil on studio is equivalent of three years at Berklee. Zeca Assunção said it; by the way wisdom is a common gift on all Zecas.

Duas coisas:
1- o Penguin, Jazz on CD, 7a ed.,nao faz qualquer referencia ao Joe Carter. Eu pessoalmente nunca o ouvi;
2- verifiquei a faixa 3 no windows Media Player e ela tocou legal;
3-Realço que trata-se de um registro historico, com dois dos FUNDADORES do Samba-Jazz.
Desconheço se tornaram a gravar juntos. É raríssimo!!!
Grato, mais uma vez, Zeca!!!
