Hello, Good Evening! Nelson Motta said one day that Brazil is essentially a country of Divas. I agree with Nelson Motta, if you browse our collection you will see there are more girls than boys available. This is not a matter of preference; it is just how things are. I thought we had reached a plateau in terms of New Brazilian singers release, but Mr. E. came this week with a new one that I never heard before and probably many Loronixers did not. Believe me, she is really great. Thanks once again Mr. E.
This is Neusa Maria - Mensagem (1959), for RCA Victor. I have been trying to understand why nobody had mention Vasilíki Purchio - Neusa Maria real name - before at Loronix. She released several 78rpms; starting in the mid 40's and ending in 1960 with a last self titled LP. Neusa Maria was born in Sao Paulo city and was a daughter of an Italian family, she moved to Rio de Janeiro in 1945 to record is first album at Continental and had a very successful singer for more than two decades. Neusa Maria has a not credited orchestra accompaniment at Mensagem, which is probably the orchestra directed by RCA Victor. Tracks include:
01 - Mensagem (Cícero Nunes / Aldo Cabral)
02 - A Banca do Distinto (Billy Blanco)
03 - Quem Foi (Nestor de Hollanda / Jorge Tavares)
04 - Se Tudo Acabar (Paulo Menezes / Gerson Gonçalves)
05 - Se Queres Saber (Peterpan)
06 - Odeio-te Meu Amor (Adelino Moreira)
07 - O Sorriso do Paulinho (Gastão Viana / Mário Rossi)
08 - Quem Sou Eu (Dolores Duran / Ribamar (1))
09 - Aperto de Mão (Jaime Florence "Meira" / Horondino Silva "Dino" / Augusto Mesquita)
10 - Porque e Para Que (Jaime Florence "Meira" / Fernando César)
11 - De Conversa Em Conversa (Lúcio Alves / Haroldo Barbosa)
12 - Na Noite Em Que Te Vi (Geraldo Serafim / Newton Castro)

Love it, zeca. Keep the 50s stuff coming! Also love the Bob Fleming!
Só para o registro, a moça na capa do disco não é a cantora Neusa Maria.
Abraços Anônimos.
