This is the natural, although not scheduled, continuation to yesterday's Gilberto Gil album. Our friend Dianod just left a comment on Gilberto Gil's album asking for more Tropicalia albums and MPB albums from the 70's. I would love to make them once in a while, but these albums are still available commercially, being the last Gilberto Gil and now Caetano Veloso as the exceptions.
First thing, I'm a great fan of Caetano Veloso and I've been waiting for the right opportunity to release one of his solo albums at Loronix. I'm glad this day has come, this is not Caetano's masterpiece, but it is a very important album for Caetano's career from a historical standpoint. Recorded in England, Caetano really demonstrate his feelings, starting by this fantastic cover artwork where Caetano shows his soul, the sadness of being away from home, expelled by the authorities in 1969.
This is Caetano Veloso - Caetano Veloso (1971), for Philips, also known as "A Little More Blue" or "London, London" album. Caetano Veloso makes quite a "departure" from the things of Brazil, delivering English lyrics in all songs, being the last "Asa Branca" the only exception. My highlights are from 01 - A Little More Blue, 03 - Maria Bethania and 04 - If You Hold a Stone. Anyway, the album is solid from the start to end and has that not easy blend of sadness and beauty. Let's feedback this release as Loronixers did in the last Gilberto Gil LP. Tracks include:
01 - A Litte More Blue (Caetano Veloso)
02 - London London (Caetano Veloso)
03 - Maria Bethânia (Caetano Veloso)
04 - If You Hold a Stone (Caetano Veloso)
05 - Shoot Me Dead (Caetano Veloso)
06 - In The Hot Sun Of a Christmas Day (Caetano Veloso / Gilberto Gil)
07 - Asa Branca (Luis Gonzaga / Humberto Teixeira)
PS.: with the selection bellow, you can't go wrong and also helps Loronix!!

sad, beautiful album. highly recommended.
Thanks for these Zeca , I love this album, it's very sad, I have Gilberto Gils London album as well. Both albums are masterpieces. These artists must have been dealing with alot of saudade (I'm trying to learn Portugese) during this period.
João é o pai, Caetano o filho, e Tom... o espirito santo.
Fantastic - always love to see my fave Brazilian musical artist, Caetano Veloso, gettin some 'airplay"
To me, there's no reason that every music lover's collection should be without some Caetano at the ready!!
Very, very, very sad... A icon in the bad days. But, in the first LP, we can ear, easy, other words that we can ear today.
