Caetano Veloso - Bicho (1977)

I could not resist showing another Caetano Veloso album that went recently out of print again. Perhaps I'm really bored with the infrastructure problems that happened this weekend and decided to make another of my Caetano Veloso favorites. Anyway, what I'm really sure is that you cannot miss this one. It is really hard to review Caetano Velloso as it is very hard to get the whole experience of his records in a first hearing. Take care with this one. In spite of being a fantastic song, the opening track features some funky and disco music arrangements that do not represents the rest of the album, which is truly beautiful. Let's see.

This is Caetano Veloso - Bicho (1977), for Philips, frequently taken by mistake as Caetano Veloso & Banda Black Rio - Bicho Baile Show, recorded one year later. Bicho is the outcome of Caetano Veloso experiences with African music, by the time he attended the Negro Festival of Art and Culture in Lagos, Nigeria. I know this album by heart and probably many friends who live in Brazil know most of these tunes. My highlights goes to 02 - Two Naira Fifty Kobo, 04 - Olha o Menino and my favorite, 09 - Alguem Cantando, with the special participation of Nicinha, Caetano Veloso's sister. Tracks include:

Personnel

Thomas Improta, Antonio Adolfo

Perinho Santana, Perinho Albuquerque

thanks for this, I think the first track "odara" is great, its funny the tracks we choose as outsiders to this wonderful music but I think the 70's disco/funk sound is so sublime on this lp. thanks for giving me opportunity to listen to something that I would have never had the chance to find in local mundane record store.. this means so much to people thanks once again..
