Tema 3 - Madrugada 1:30 (1969)

Hello, Good Evening! moos never stops amazing me. His great passion to the Music from Brazil and the work he is doing on improving his ripping and image processing skills makes me feel very proud of having moos as our great friend. He sent this fantastic album using the Mail Big File icon and just wrote a message with no signature. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm quite sure this LP came from moos. If I'm wrong, please correct me. If I'm right, moos, say hello, please.

This is Tema 3 - Madrugada 1:30 (1969), for Equipe, following the very nice Tema Tres - Tema 3 (1966), for Atonal. Release date is uncertain (*** not anymore, Justin sent the correct date on comments section) but it was probably released in 1967 or 1968. Tema 3 is lead by the Brazilian pianist and maestro Gilson Peranzzetta, credited as Gilson Peranz by Equipe. The trio also features Luiz Roberto (bass) and Atayde (drums) with the special guest, arranger and violao player Alberto Arantes. I'm not sure if the bassist Luiz Roberto is the same from Os Cariocas, this is something that Loronixers can confirm on comments. Several others musicians are credited as special guests on some tracks, you can check the full listing inside the music. Thanks moos, you are a great finder. Tracks include:

Vinicius, Marilia Medalha e Toquinho - Como Dizia o Poeta... Musica Nova (1971)

Marilia Medalha took me by surprise a week ago when Loronixers gave a very good feedback on comments and downloads of her debut a LP for Philips. I decided to call her back to our community, not alone this time, but accompanied by two great Bossa Nova icons, Vinicius de Moraes and Toquinho.

This is Vinicius, Marilia Medalha e Toquinho - Como Dizia o Poeta... Musica Nova (1971), for RGE. It seems to be impossible for Vinicius de Moraes and Toquinho to make a regular album, perhaps even if they want to make it. They also have a special talent to bring Brazilian Divas for collaborations and make them shine, delivering their best. The repertoire features a couple of well-known songs by the duo, with highlights to Tarde em Itapoan, Como Dizia o Poeta and Na Tonga da Mironga do Kabulete, arrangements by Maestro Jose Briamonte. Musica Nova is that kind of album that saves your whole day if you take it for a hearing in the morning as your first thing you do. Tracks include:

01 - Tarde Em Itapoã (Toquinho / Vinicius de Moraes)
02 - Como Dizia o Poeta (Sobre o Adágio de Albinoni) (Toquinho / Vinicius de Moraes)
03 - Tomara (Vinicius de Moraes)
04 - Valsa Para o Ausente (Vinicius de Moraes / Marília Medalha)
05 - Samba de Gesse (Vinicius de Moraes)
06 - A Tonga da Mironga do Kabuletê (Toquinho / Vinicius de Moraes) with Monsueto
07 - A Bênção Bahia (Toquinho / Vinicius de Moraes)
08 - Mais Um Adeus (Toquinho / Vinicius de Moraes)
09 - A Vez do Dombe (Toquinho / Vinicius de Moraes)
10 - O Grande Apelo (Vinicius de Moraes / Marília Medalha)
11 - Samba da Rosa (Toquinho / Vinicius de Moraes)
12 - Melancia e Coco Verde (Vinicius de Moraes)

Challenge | Who is singing?

Hello, Good Afternoon! Just making a quick break to challenge Loronixers with this short film, the first Coca Cola TV add in Brazil, very Brazilian by the way. The challenge is the identification of the Carmem Miranda wannabe singer. She is very famous, a top five Loronix divas on our last poll. Who is she?

Hope uEnjoy!

Robert Rutz e Seu Orgao Maravilhoso - Latino

It has been a month or two since we made the first album by this mysterious organist that uses the alias of Roberto Rutz. I thought that was the first and only album by this artist and I was wrong, here we go on another Roberto Rutz album, now by a different label, Tropicana. According with Bossanov, Roberto Rutz is the alias used by the Brazilian organist Celso Murilo. Anyway, it is another chance to find out Bossanov hint. Let's see.

This is Roberto Rutz e Seu Orgao Maravilhoso - Latino (no date), for Tropicana. Mr. Rutz delivers groovy Hammond B3 renditions of Boleros, Rumbas and other Latin music, including two Bossa Nova standards, Desafinado and Garota de Ipanema. Personnel is not credited and the back cover brings something really unique, a serial number printed by Tropicana, which is 3014. This is something for completionists and fans of Celso Murilo. Tracks include:

01 - Perfidia (A. Dominguez)
02 - Garota de Ipanema (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
03 - Cuando Calienta El Sol (C. Rigual / M. Rigual)

Luiz Arruda Paes e Sua Grande Orquestra - Brasil Norte a Sul (1958)

Hello, Good Evening. This album was one of the hardest restorations ever made by Loronix. I have others that would be hard as this one, but as a fan of Maestro Luiz Arruda Paes, I decided to put my hands to work on it, no matter how long and how hard it would be. Now I'm happy with the results, this beautiful cover was full of mud and probably received water several times. To give you an idea, I could only understand the girl was scratching the head of a macaw when I finished the scan. It was only a red region.

Anyway, this is a Luiz Arruda Paes album, not the first 1958 issue, titled Luiz Arruda Paes e Sua Grande Orquestra - Brasil Norte a Sul (1958), Odeon as MOCB 3021, but an Imperial (Odeon subsidiary) mid 60's reissue.

This is Luiz Arruda Paes e Sua Grande Orquestra - Brasil Norte a Sul (1958), for Odeon. I decided to keep the album title and original release date since they speak a lot about the album. Brazil de Norte a Sul has a concept, which is to show the music from several Brazilian regions. The record opens with the Northeast region and then Luiz Arruda Paes starts visiting all major Brazilian states on each track. I hope you have a nice time with this album as I did this week. I did not have muscle to clear the back cover, so I'm including it with no image processing, sorry. Tracks include:

01 - Mulhé Rendeira (Tradicional)
02 - Vassourinhas (Mathias da Rocha / Joana Batista Ramos)
03 - Cidade Maravilhosa (André Filho)
04 - Onde o Céu Azul É Mais Azul (João de Barro / Alberto Ribeiro)
05 - Peixe Vivo (Tradicional)
06 - Negrinho do Pastoreio (Barbosa Lessa)
07 - Exaltação à Bahia (Vicente Paiva / Chianca de Garcia)
08 - Perfil de São Paulo (Bezerra)
09 - Canta Brasil (David Nasser / Alcyr Pires Vermelho)
10 - Barqueiro de São Francisco (Alcyr Pires Vermelho / Alberto Ribeiro)
11 - "Lendas Amazônicas" Tambatajá (Waldemar Henrique) Cobra Grande (Waldemar Henrique) Foi Boto Sinhá (Waldemar Henrique / Antônio Tavernard)
12 - Rei Bantu (Luis Gonzaga / Zé Dantas)

Elizeth Cardoso - A Meiga Elizeth Nr. 5 (1964)

Here we go on another Elizeth Cardoso album from the "A Meiga Elizeth" series, kindly sent by moos to Loronixers. This series has five albums and this is the third made available at Loronix. Top-notch musicians, including a mysterious organist credited as “Sir Walter Scott”, back Elizeth Cardoso. By the way, this alias makes easy to realize that a Brazilian organist also called Walter is behind Sir Scott. Let's see.

This is Elizeth Cardoso - A Meiga Elizeth Nr. 5 (1964), for Copacabana, featuring Moacyr Silva e Seu Conjunto. Thanks once again moos, this album is solid from start to the end. Elizeth Cardoso rendition to Ze Ketti song Diz que Fui Por Ai is fantastic with Walter Wanderley organ swinging a lot with Elizeth. Rildo Hora is a special guest on track 11 - Encontro com a Saudade, backing Elizeth Cardoso with violao. Personnel is credit this time. Tracks include:

Varios Artistas - Bossa Nova 25 Anos (1983)

I'm reposting this album in attention to new Loronixers that should take it as an introductory Bossa Nova record, showing in a glance important Bossa Nova tunes performed by renowned artists. Additionally, cover artwork is upgraded -- front and back covers were missing when first issued at Loronix -- and the music, with major improvements on quality, including the FLAC files alternative.

Bossa Nova 25 Anos was released as a marketing initiative of Coca Cola Beverage Company in Brazil, never made available commercially.

Simonetti e Seu Conjunto - Accarezzame (1958)

Hello, Good Evening! It has been a while since we do not make one of those Para Dancar (For Dancing) albums, a very popular style in the 50's and early 60's. Think about the world in the 50's, no TVs available, the radio delivering orchestral and instrumental music and everybody waiting for the weekend to party at ballrooms. People use to buy these records to stay tuned with the music of the ballrooms and even dancing on private parties at home with Para Dancar albums.

The style was so important that even a mighty Maestro such like Henrique Simonetti made his rendition to it. Simonetti is Italian and the repertoire features only Italian songs. This is my pick to start this Sunday.

This is Simonetti e Seu Conjunto - Accarezzame (1958), for RGE, the first Simonetti release at Loronix with no orchestra, just backed by Conjunto RGE. The Italian songs selected by Simonetti are very beautiful and also very hard to write down (this is a joke). Conjunto RGE delivers nice renditions to each song on top of Simonetti arrangements. Musicians are not credited and a very well played accordion gives that Italian atmosphere. Tracks include:

01 - Accarezzame (P. Calvi / Nisa)
02 - Malatia (Armando Romeo)
03 - Chella' Llá (S. Taccani / U. Bertini)
04 - Che 'me 'mparato a Fa' (A. Trovajoli / G. Verdi)
05 - Arrivederci Roma (R. Rascel / Garinei / Giovanini)
06 - 'na Voce 'na Chitarra e 'o Poco 'e Luna (C. A. Rossi / U. Calise)
07 - Vogliamoci Tanto Bene (R. Rascel)
08 - Anema e Core (Manlio)
09 - Musetto (P. Saka / Domenico Modugno)
10 - Malafemmena (De Curtis)
11 - Guaglione (G. Fanciulli / Nisa)
12 - Picolissima Serenata (Ferrio / Amurri)

Ed Lincoln - Ed Lincoln (1968)

I'm very happy to own an original first issue copy of this album, never released at Loronix. Actually, it has been a while since we made a record by Ed Lincoln. This album landmark the first LP released by Savoya label, owned by Ed Lincoln. I made some searches to find additional Savoya albums with no success. It seems this lable had a short life, but this album is really great. Let's see.

This is Ed Lincoln - Ed Lincoln (1968), for Savoya, also known as "De Savoya album". The back cover brings a statement from Savoya Discos that explains very well this album, they say the record has 12 songs, each one very different from each other, giving the perception of hearing 12 different albums in only one record. I agree, Ed Lincoln and the top-notch musicians in the set delivering songs on different styles with arrangements by Ed Lincoln. The highlight goes to Zum Zum, Waldemar, Sack O'Woe and O Choro do Bebe. Tracks include:

Personnel

Ed Lincoln
(organ, arrangements)
Durval Ferreira
(guitar)
Luiz Marinho
(bass)
Orlann Divo
(vocals)
Garin
(percussion)
Alex Papa
(drums)
Tony Tornado
(percussion)
Celinho
(piston)
Claudinho
(piston)

Track List

01 - Zum Zum Zum (Silva / Adamastor)
02 - Waldemar (Devel / Orlann Divo)
03 - O Choro do Bebê (De Savoya)
04 - Catedral (Celinho)
05 - Já Estou Aqui (Ed Lincoln / Celinho)
06 - Cumba-iê (Ed Lincoln / Celinho)
07 - Se Correr o Bicho Pega (Devel / Orlann Divo)
08 - Sack O'woe (Saca-uô) (C. Adderley)
09 - É Demais (Ed Lincoln)
