I'm amazed and really grateful to cvllos for sending this fantastic album to our community, a never released album recorded by one of our favorites, the legendary Juarez Araujo, also known as just Juarez, introduced to our community by Jean do Trombone and bossanovadreamer. Thanks once again cvllos, your fantastic contribution worth a delay on our Samba Saturday start. Let's see.

This is Juarez - O Inimitavel Juarez (1962), for Masterplay, featuring Juarez sax tenor renditions of Brazilian standards on side A and international standards on side B. Looking at Caetano Rodrigues book, I thought this album was a compilation and I was wrong, O Inimitavel Juarez is the second Juarez solo LP with Musical Direction by Astor Silva and renowned Brazilian musicians, really nice. Academicos do Salgueiro - Ai Vem o Samba (1957)

I'm back. Samba Saturday was postponed one single post and your wait really worth. This is a nice find. Before taking, I want to warn for the quality of this ripping. It is not clean; this album has 51 years and was found on a really bad condition. The sound is scratch sometimes and there are some few jumps. Take it from a historical perspective. This is an album recorded in 1957 by a real Escola de Samba and real Escola de Samba people. It is a journey to Brazilian Carnaval in the late 50's. 50 years ago.

This is Academicos do Salgueiro - Ai Vem o Samba (1957), for Musidisc. Acadêmicos do Salgueiro is a traditional Escola de Samba in Rio de Janeiro. Tracks Ensaio de Ritmo Nr. 1 and Nr. 2 are "batucadas" with no lyrics, the others tunes are compositions that we never heard before, composed by Academicos do Salgueiro songwriters. Sorry, there is an exception, track 05 - Esquentando a Cuica, do not have lyrics, but a performance of Cuica, this unique instrument with a very beautiful sound. The cover artwork speaks by itself. Sivuca - Sivuca (1979)

It has been a very long time since we made the last album by Sivuca, I'm not taking in consideration his last release with Rildo Hora, I’m talking about a Sivuca career album as main performer. Sivuca is all about Loronix and people always give nice feedback on his music. I think this album will take everybody by surprise, I took a lot of time digging the back cover to find the name of the guy who sings throughout the record and for my surprise, Sivuca sings lyrics and he makes it very beautiful. I hope people get pleased on hearing Sivuca again as I was today.

This is Sivuca - Sivuca (1979), for Copacabana, a great session with the atmosphere of being recorded like a friend's rehearsal. Sivuca has some special guests of note, such as Hermeto Pascoal on tracks Nosso Encontro and Sambura de Peixe Miudo, Glorinha Gadelha, which is Sivuca's wife also takes part at Joao e Maria, Doce Doce and Sambura de Peixe Miudo. Remaining musicians are not credit, but the back cover brings session pictures with Katia de Franca, Ivan Machado, Claudio Jorge, Ze Carlos and Teo Lima on Drums. Tracks include:

Just want to remember that Loronix Samba Saturday has also a partner, Justin also delivers Samba on Saturday at his website. However, some friends are requesting to change the day to Friday and some others are requesting to make it on Saturday and also on Friday. This is something that I need to think about and make the right decision.

This is Jacob do Bandolim - Jacob e Seu Bandolim | Assanhado (1966), for RCA Candem. Assanhado is a compilation with well known Jacob do Bandolim songs, perfect for fans and useful for those who want to hear Jacob do Bandolim for the first time. All tracks are solid with highlights to Assanhado, Andrea de Sapato Novo, Doce de Coco and Saxofone, Porque Choras. It is impossible to go wrong with Jacob do Bandolim. Tracks include:

Waleska - Na Fossa (1971)

I have two copies of this album, vinyl, second issue by SOM, a Copacabana subsidiary. Every time I check an old vinyl shop in Rio, this album is there, not one copy, two or three. I think this is the reason for being neglected by me. I should confess that I never took it for a hearing and I lost a lot of time. This album is really good and it is now time to show it to Loronixers. Let's see what happens.

This is Waleska - Na Fossa (1951), for Copacabana (1971), featuring a singer never shown to Loronixers with accompaniment of Ribamar (piano) and the legendary Moacyr Silva (sax tenor), also in charge of production. Waleska was the owner of the nightclub Fossa and probably, one of the most frequent performes and probably the most important singer of the Fossa style. Ribamar and Moacyr Silva deliver a nice support to Waleska, especially Moacyr Silva with nice sax tenor improvisations. I never had the chance to hear Moacyr Silva performing live. Na Fossa is a really worth checking album, I recommend. Tracks include:

Fafa Lemos e Carolina Cardoso de Menezes - Fafa & Carolina (1989)

Albums like this one should be released more often, this is a beautiful initiative produced by Zuza Homem de Mello, started four years early when he had the chance to visit Carolina Cardoso de Menezes place and watch Carolina and Fafa performing together as they were a duo of many years of experience.

Carolina Cardoso de Menezes and Fafa Lemos never had the chance to play together professionally. However, Fafa Lemos contribution to the music from Brazil is very important. Fafa Lemos is the violin and voice of the legendary Trio Surdina, releasing also several solo albums on a career that spans several decades. Carolina Cardoso de Menezes does not need to be introduced, the work she made on blending her classical background with popular music was of a great importance. Anyway, truly beautiful initiative and really nice album. Let's see.

This is Fafa Lemos e Carolina Cardoso de Menezes - Fafa & Carolina (1989), for Eldorado, featuring Fafa Lemos violin and Carolina Cardoso de Menezes piano in all tracks. They are backed by Saba, Jongo Trio bassist and Lilian Carmona (drums) in most of the tracks. Fafa e Carolina is solid from the start to the end and my personal highlights goes to 02 - Se Acasso Voce Chegasse, 05 - A Saudade Mata a Gente and 11 - Curio Dengoso by Carolina Cardoso de Menezes also in charge of arrangements. Hello, Good Evening! Caetano Rodrigues uses to drives me crazy when he decides to share with our community some pretty obscure Bossa Nova albums recorded outside Brazil. This is Los Graduados - Romance en Bossa Nova (no date), for Caleidofon, Mexico. Little I know about Los Graduados, the group is lead by a well-known Mexican sax player, Joaquin Pessina. The other members are not credited on back cover. By the way, this wonderful front cover does not let you turn to see the back cover, beautiful photo with beautiful typefaces. Tracks include:

Dick Farney - Noite (1981)

I was missing Dick Farney and I'm confident this is a great choice. I was thinking about releasing something great sent by moos, but I decided to save it for Sunday, since Monday is the day of highest traffic at Loronix. Sometimes friends ask me for a nice Dick Farney pick and my answer is another question, to know if the friend prefers Dick Farney singing or Dick Farney performing at the piano.

This album address both worlds, side A has Dick Farney singing with piano accompaniment and side B has Dick Farney performing with his usual trio formation of piano, bass and drums. Everybody asks me for a Dick Farney album and my answer is another question, which one do you prefer? Dick Farney singing or instrumental? With Noite nobody goes wrong.

This is Dick Farney - Noite (1981), for Som da Gente. It is amazing how Dick Farney performs nicely on an album recorded very close to the end of his recording career, singing and playing. The repertoire is based on American standards with the exception of 06 - Se Todos Fossem Iguais a Voce (Antonio Carlos Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes), simply the best instrumental rendition of this song that I ever heard. This track worth the entire album. Tracks include:

I was deciding between Radames Gnattali and Orquestra Tabajara from Maestro Severino Araujo for this post. However, I had a busy day, addressing several problems. That's why I made my decision by this artist, Laercio de Freitas, also known just as Tio (uncle, in English). It was easy, Laercio de Freitas is the kind of artist that does not count with a great popularity among the public, but is acclaimed by several musicians. Let's see.

This is Laercio de Freitas - Laercio de Freitas e O Som Roceiro (1972), for CID, the debut LP by this gifted and influential pianist, maestro, arranger and composer. Laercio de Freitas has a solid portfolio, working as arranger for recording companies, being the pianist of renowned Brazilian artists, such as Clara Nunes, Maria Bethania, Emilio Santiago, Angela Maria, among many others. I said I was looking for some relaxation and Laercio de Freitas e o Som Roceiro is pure fun. Friends from Brazil will remember a blockbuster, 03 - Capim Gordura. Really nice. Tracks include:
