Conjunto Arpoador e Vozes - Samba de Todos os Tempos (1968)

Hello! Good night! This is the end of a sunny weekend in Rio de Janeiro as we did not see for several months. Beaches were full all day long and right now it is 7:16pm and the sun is still up. Tomorrow moring is the start of another working week.

I decided to start today with the first thing you will probably see tomorrow (it is a bird joke), meet Conjunto Arpoador e Vozes - Sambas de Todos os Tempos (1968), for RCA Camdem, according with linear notes, the main idea of this album is to make a new reading of old Samba tunes as they should be at the modern 1968 times.

The outcome is great; a chorus of female voices sings the lyrics with a consistent Samba Jazz accompaniment. This is the first and probably the only LP released by Conjunto Arpoador e Vozes that lines up renowned Brazilian artists as follows: Raul Mascarenhas (piano), Rildo Hora (acoustic guitar and harmonica), Reizinho (drums), Jorge Marinho (bass) and Coral do Joab (voices). Tracks include:

01 - Eu Quero Um Samba (Haroldo Barbosa / Janet de Almeida)
02 - Helena Helena (Antônio Almeida / Constantino Silva "Secundino") -- O Que É Que Eu Dou (Dorival Caymmi / Antônio Almeida)
03 - Gosto Que Me Enrosco (J. B. da Silva "Sinhô")
04 - Falsa Baiana (Geraldo Pereira)
05 - Você Foi Mais Uma (Cícero Nunes)
06 - Copacabana (João de Barro / Alberto Ribeiro)
07 - Vem Chegando a Madrugada (Noel Rosa de Oliveira / Zuzuca)
08 - Na Cadência do Samba (Ataulfo Alves / Paulo Gesta) -- Atire a Primeira Pedra (Ataulfo Alves / Mário Lago) -- Ai Que Saudade da Amélia (Ataulfo Alves / Mário Lago)
09 - Quem Te Viu e Quem Te Vê (Chico Buarque)
10 - Barracão (Luis Antônio / Oldemar Magalhães) -- Lata D'água (Luis Antônio / Jota Júnior) -- Zé Marmita (Luis Antônio / Brasinha) -- Alguém Como Tu (Jair Amorim / José Maria de Abreu) -- Está Nascendo Um Samba (Tito Madi / Romeo Nunes)

Hi, Zeca!
I think, that Arpoador was the popular name in 60th Brazil!
It's something like the beach in Ipanema, isn't it?
Just to remember: Conjunto Arpoador isn't equal to Quarteto Arpoador with his "Bossa no Castelinho" (Esquema, 1963). But this "Quarteto" is the same group , as "Hélio Mendes e seu Trio Vagalume" (Musiplay).
Dear Zeca, thanks for Os Bossais!!
What about Juarez Sant'ana, another orgao genius from Brazil?
