For more than a few weeks we have been exchanging ideas about this artist and this series of three LPs that are solid from start to the end. This is the first one, Juarez e Seu Conjunto - Masterplay Goes to New York (1963), for Masterplay, an astonishing instrumental LP reinventing well-known American standards as never seen before.
Juarez is a Brazilian saxophonist, a true legend, considered by many reviewers and specialists one of top five sax players in the world ever. Juarez has died recently in 2003 with the age of 72. Personnel listing is available bellow with track list:

Caetano y Zecalouro, I has been a fan and a lover of Bossa Nova , maybe 40 years ago (I am 57 now). Since the first time I found Loronix about a month ago, I think ny life changed a lot in a beautiful way. I am Obstetrics & Ginecology Doctor and I paid all my medicine studies by playing organ at parties and clubs. I really play bossa nova all the time. My favorite song is Garota de Ipanema, and it´s so special for me that my family knows that when I die, they have to play it at the funerals.............Thank you for all this wonderful music and specially for this album..........Thank you from Guatemala, Central América.........ARTURO GRAMAJO
many more thanks than I can express with words to Caetano and Zecalouro and all the people who share their music here. It's like travelling in time and space, I'm a dutchman (from Holland), living in the south of France, my "job" is making streetmusic, mainly in Switzerland, bossa nova & samba among others (blues & ballads). Thanks to you I can discover so much music I could never find here. Millionfold, trillionfold thanks. Love, Rob
PS.: Moritat is not the name of a composer, it's how the germans call a sort of song singing about murder (Mordtat, that is the act of murder). This just for your information, to avoid you spending hours looking for a composer with this name, trying to find other songs written by the same...
love, rob
Joyful! Superb! Incredible how they bring such a beat to these standards.
