The Ipanema Pop Orchestra - Bossa Nova for Swinging Lovers (1965)

If you are looking at this cover thinking something like: "Oh! No! Another of those Bossa Nova for "tourists" with a woman on a bikini..." I agree 100% with you. This is the first reaction I had when I look at this cover. However, Caetano Rodrigues sent this LP to Loronixers, so I decided to call Caetano and ask the reason for such record. Caetano said: "It is VERY good!!!" When Caetano says it is very good, it is excellent.

This is The Ipanema Pop Orchestra - Bossa Nova for Swinging Lovers (1965), for London, an obscure Brazilian studio only group with not credited players, but the arrangers are Maestro Cipo, Eumir Deodato and Luiz Eca giving their best on twelve selected Bossa Nova standards. I would like to know the musicians on the set... I'm wondering if Eca plays the piano. Who has this answer? Anyway, an enjoyable album that you should investigate. As I said, don't let the cover and the title cheats you, it is great and magnificent. Tracks include:

01 - O Barquinho (Roberto Menescal / Ronaldo Bôscoli)
02 - Garota de Ipanema (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
03 - Insensatez (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
04 - Vivo Sonhando (Tom Jobim)
05 - Amor e Paz (Tito Madi)
06 - Rio (Roberto Menescal / Ronaldo Bôscoli)
07 - Desafinado (Tom Jobim / Newton Mendonça)
08 - Consolação (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes)
