Neco e o Seu Violao - Coquetel Bossa Nova (1963)

It was very hard to decide the end post of the day. I was on a conflict between two other choices, but when it comes to my attention that Caetano sent to us an additional Neco LP, the decision was taken on less then a second. Jean Yves (Jean do Trombone) will be very pleased to see Neco when he wakes up in the morning. Jean is a great friend of our community and had the chance to play and have a friendship with Neco. Jean said that besides being a unique guitarist, Neco is also a great human being. Thanks Caetano for the chance to present to Loronixers these really hard to find Neco solo releases.

This is Neco - Coquetel Bossa Nova (1963), for CBS. The first Neco solo album, although some reviewers takes Coquetel Bossa Nova as the second Neco album, taking the first as Samba Nova Concepcao (1963), widely associated as an Eumir Deodato LP. I need more clarification on this subject, share your thoughts at comments section, Tracks include:

01 - Jogado Fora (João Mello)
02 - Você (Rildo Hora / Clóvis Mello)
03 - Está Nascendo Um Samba (Tito Madi / Romeo Nunes)
04 - Se Chegou Assim (Othon Russo / Newton Ramalho)
05 - Ah Se Eu Pudesse (Roberto Menescal / Ronaldo Bôscoli)
06 - Corcovado (Tom Jobim)
07 - Nós e o Mar (Roberto Menescal / Ronaldo Bôscoli)
08 - Com o Amor Não Se Brinca (Romeo Nunes / Carlito)
09 - Tem Dó (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes)
10 - A Mesma Rosa Amarela (Capiba / Carlos Penna Filho)
11 - Triteza e Solidão (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes)
12 - Sorriu Pra Mim (Garoto / Luis Cláudio)

This LP was arranged and conducted by Astor. Interesting is the fact, that on many tracks Astor used the same arrangements he made for the Tito Madi LP "Amor e paz" (CBS 4021) on which Neco`s guitar is also heavily featured. When you compare the tracks it sounds like the same session, only Neco`s guitar is heard instead of Tito Madi`s singing.

Frank-oliver,

How are you friend?

According with Sombras (www.sombras.com.br) it is the same studio set tape, same session. I don't know which one was released first.

Cheers, zeca

Hello Zeca Hello Caetano,
I just had a call with Frank-Oliver.
He told he wrote a comment to this Necoalbum and the orchesterthing between this Neco and this Tito Madi album "Amor em paz" which I posted long ago on my bossanovadreamer blog- Actually it is out of time on my blog . But If all goes good I will send this night to Zeca and we will have a wonderful re-post so all Loronixers can compare both albums-
really fine.

Best wishes

Zecalouro,

You can't just imagine how long I was looking for this record. THANK YOU ! I love Neco and his guitar. Meanwhile, I do have "Samba Nova Concepção" and it is indeed credited to Deodato (Os Catedráticos). But www.sombras.com.br said this is a mistake. In fact, if we compare this record with others' Catedráticos, it is easy to note the difference, so I agree with Sombras.

Cheers, all the best ! (for you and Caetano !)
