Geraldo Vandre - Cinco Anos de Cancao (1966)

Geraldo Vandre is really a unique artist. He was taken from Brazil by the dictatorship when he was on his peak two years after this release in 1968. When Geraldo Vandre came back to Brazil he left his artistic career to take other directions. I have been wondering how would be further Geraldo Vandre albums if he decided to follow with the music. By the time Cinco Anos de Cancao was released, Geraldo Vandre started to build some partnership with Caetano Veloso and Torquato Netto, you can feel the results here where Geraldo Vandre makes some songs oriented to Brazilian NorthEast music at that time. I think I need to revisit his earlier releases available at Loronix.

This is Geraldo Vandre - Cinco Anos de Cancao (1966), for Som Maior. In spite the transition from Bossa Nova, little is known about this album in terms of personnel with Geraldo Vandre at the set. The repertoire brings some important compositions including the well-known Quem Quiser Encontrar o Amor by Geraldo Vandre and Carlos Lyra. Tracks include:

- Porta Estandarte (Geraldo Vandré / Fernando Lona)
- Depois É Só Chorar (Geraldo Vandré)
- Tristeza de Amar (Geraldo Vandré / Luis Roberto)
- Réquiem Para Matraga (Geraldo Vandré)
- Canção do Breve Amor (Geraldo Vandré / Alaíde Costa)
- Fica Mal Com Deus (Geraldo Vandré)
- Rosa Flor (Baden Powell / Geraldo Vandré)
- Pequeno Concerto Que Virou Canção (Geraldo Vandré)
- Se a Tristeza Chegar (Baden Powell / Geraldo Vandré)
- Canção Nordestina (Geraldo Vandré)
- Ninguém Pode Mais Sofrer (Geraldo Vandré / Luis Roberto)
- Quem Quiser Encontrar o Amor (Geraldo Vandré / Carlos Lyra)
