Johnny Alf - Desbunde Total (1978)

This is to address the request made by GoodGroove a couple of weeks ago, Johnny Alf, a key figure on Bossa Nova story, active since the early 50's -- as we confirm here at Loronix with the fantastic contribution of Mr. E., Mary Goncalves - Convite ao Romance (1952) -- and unfortunately highly underestimated.

This is Johnny Alf - Desbunde Total (1978), for Chantecler, late work of Johnny Alf with the help of Joao Donato at arrangements. All compositions written by Johnny Alf, most of them unknown, Johnny Alf sings and plays the piano. Desbunde Total is the last Johnny Alf LP in the 70's, he cross the whole 80's with no recording activity, being back in the 90's with Olhos Negros, gone out of print and never reissued again with Johnny Alf making duets with several guests based on a repertoire of his greatest hits. I'm tracking this one down. Tracks include:

01 - Oxum (Johnny Alf)
02 - Passe Livre (Armando Cavalcanti / Victor Freire)
03 - Sidarta (Johnny Alf)
04 - Orgulho de Bom Sambista (Johnny Alf)
05 - Que Volte a Tristeza (Johnny Alf)
06 - Eu Pretendo Não Chorar (Johnny Alf)
07 - Desbunde Total (Johnny Alf)

Zeca, shouts for remembering my request. I only knew some tracks of "Desbunde Total", but just confirmed that this is vintage JA.

I was not aware of Donato's role as the arranger, although it really makes sense: Alf is groovier than ever on this release.
