Cyro Monteiro e Dilermando Pinheiro - Show Teleco Teco Opus Nr. 1 (1966)

I was saving this album for an eventual Samba Saturday at Loronix, but many friends have requested this important record since Loronix very first beginning. Some reviewers says Teleco Teco Opus Nr. 1 has an historical importance in the definition of future Samba live recordings released in the remaining 60's and 70's, being equivalent of the well-known Show Opiniao, recorded by Nara Leao and Ze Ketti in the same year, same theater and using the same format. Let’s see.

This is Cyro Monteiro e Dilermando Pinheiro - Show Teleco Teco Opus Nr. 1 (1966), for Philips, presented at Loronix by an excellent vinyl transfer taken from Philips first 1966 issue. Personnel is not credited, however, my searches were very successful on the identification of Regional do Canhoto backing the duo, including Jacob do Bandolim and Dino Sete Cordas, which is the musician playing the seven string acoustic guitar, partially shown at the front cover above. The repertoire features 33 tunes with no tracks separation. Tracks include:

Zeca,
Thank you a thousand times for this one. As you said, "Teleco Teco Opus Nr. 1" and "Show Opinião" were recorded in the same year, same theatre and using the same format. But that's where the resemblance stops. Show Opinião was released in CD a couple of years ago; the whole thing sounds amateur, indulgent and naif (although it definitely has an historical interest). On the other hand, the 42 year-old "Teleco Teco" is much alive and kicking, on its own merits. Great musicians, great music!

Hi Zeca,

Thanks a lot for this fine blog that you share with the world, and for spreading the beautiful music of your country.

I've listened to quite a few albums you have posted and always discover some new ones that I love...

I've also decided to create a blog, to share the music I love with others. Not by posting entire albums, but by making compilations of the genres I like best, so my friends, and anyone else can discover some new music.

I know you are very busy, but I'd be more than flattered if you came for a visit :)
