Perfect match: Loronixer request + out of print LP + LP is good + available at zecalouro's ark = POST. This post comes from this equation, zecalouro likes to run over recommendations and they are very useful to Loronix.
zecalouro presents Lana Bittencourt - Sambas do Rio (1960), all songs composed by Antonio Carlos Jobim and Luiz Antonio, appearing intercalated, as you can see at the track list.
Nice early 60's Samba LP full of that huge brass and string orchestral arrangements very common in the 50's. The cover is cool, with a landscape of Rio de Janeiro showing Pao de Acucar mountain, probably taken from Niteroi, anyway. Tracks include:
01 - Amor Amor (Luiz Antonio)
02 - Longe e o Ceu (Antonio Carlos Jobim)
03 - Poema das Maos (Luiz Antonio)
04 - Corcovado (Antonio Carlos Jobim)
05 - Eu e o Rio (Luiz Antonio)
06 - Outra vez (Antonio Carlos Jobim)
07 - Chorou Chorou (Luiz Antonio)
08 - So em Teus Bracos (Antonio Carlos Jobim)
09 - Estrada do Amor (Luiz Antonio)
10 - Fotografia (Antonio Carlos Jobim)
11 - Ri (Luiz Antonio)
12 - Este seu Olhar (Antonio Carlos Jobim)

il_guarany,

Hi zecalouro,
Sorry, I am not an expert on Rio de Janeiro landscapes, but I work with aerial and satellite photos and I think that the photo from the cover was not taken from Niteroi.
You can see an aerial perspective very similar to this one here:

Watch the ouline of the Pão de Açúcar in both images; they are very close. Now, look at the yellow band between the mountains and the sea ... yes, the buildings along the Copacabana beach. I bet that the photo was taken from one of these islands placed more or less 4 km to the south of Ipanema beach. I do not know their names, but you can see their location here, in Google Maps:

It is only my very little contribution to your superb blog. BTW, "Sambas do Rio" is really an excellent album. Thanks for sharing it.
Thank you, il_guarany!
Hope someday discover "os encantos de Niteroi" (of course, after having seen Rio!)
Il_Guarany,
You did it. That's right, Cagarras.
Zamurozien, come to Brazil, it will be nice to have you down here.

Someday, someday. If I convince zamurozien's wife I will have a probability of 90% to go there; if not, the probability will be 0,00% c'est la vie!
