Baden Powell - Apaixonado (1973)

Baden Powell posts are not easy. They are really hard to be described. Baden Powell universe is so rich and complex; each release is different from the other on several aspects. Baden Powell music is amazing a guaranteed listening pleasure.

Baden Powell - Apaixonado (1973), follows Estudos, both are considered as part of Baden experimental phase with a lot of improvisation. Banden is backed up here by a septet. This amazing psycho cover with Baden growing inside a plant with a guitar flying on top is also great. I could not find its creator, which is probably a German artist since this LP was released by the German label MPS Records, during Baden years in Germany. Tracks include ten Baden compositions:

1. Casa Velha (Baden Powell)
2. Alcântara (Baden Powell)
3. Igarapé (Baden Powell)
4. Estórias de Alcântara (Baden Powell)
5. Waltzing (Baden Powell)
6. Lembranças (Baden Powell)
7. Abstrato (Baden Powell)
8. As Flores (Baden Powell)
9. Balantofe (Baden Powell)
10. Brisa do Mar (Baden Powell)

Thanks loads for bringing out to light another great pack of true brazilian music.I'm still catching my breath from finding the 11 records from MPBC series (month agosto) at Abracadabra-LPs do Brasil (amazing blog), thanks to your hint of pointing it out in your must-see blogs list. This Baden Powell is a must listen and I cant wait to kill my "saudades" from the Nonato Buzar 70's sound and can you believe I still have Abilio Manoel's "Pena Verde" odeon single till these days? so thanks a lot for the chance to listen to this other work of his. Many thanks for keeping up the great work of digging up these brazilian pearls of outstanding musical quality and spreading the word through your blog.Cheers.

grande, Zeca!

The creator of the cover art is the German artist Herbert Joos, who is also a jazz musician. His drawings of Miles Davis have become somewhat famous, see also the following link (biography in German):

The record has been reissued on cd, now long out of print, by Polydor Germany in 1993 (nr 519 216-2); it's a double-cd with three orignal vinyl MPS-albums: Tristeza on guitar (1975), Poema on guitar (1968), Apaixonado (1975)

Greetings from Romania !
I'm a big fan of Baden Powell music. I like his instrumental album Tristeza (1966)
Keep up the good work.

I think the album Melancolie is part of it.
