Dick Farney - Dick Farney (1973)

I cannot remember how many albums by Dick Farney showing his "singing side" are already available at Loronix. Perhaps without noticing, I've been picking Dick Farney instrumental side more frequently. This nice LP comes to fulfill this gap, showing Dick Farney singing on a very reduced accompaniment by his own piano and a small combo. Let's see how it works.

This is Dick Farney - Dick Farney (1973) for Odeon. Little is know about this album recording session that shows Farney singing as a performing on a nightclub. I'm a big fan of Dick Farney and perhaps not the right guy to describe this album, beautiful and with a adequate touch of sadness on his singing and piano playing. What you see at this nice cover is exactly what you get, a great opportunity for those who wants to get along with his art of singing. Tracks include:

01 - Nick Bar (José Vasconcelos)
02 - Sempre Teu (José Maria de Abreu / Jair Amorim)
03 - Ser Ou Não Ser (José Maria de Abreu / Alberto Ribeiro)
04 - Embraceable You (George Gershwin / Ira Gershwin)
05 - Esquece (Gilberto Milfont)
06 - Fotografia (Tom Jobim)
07 - Somos Dois (Armando Cavalcanti / Klécius Caldas / Luis Antônio)
08 - Meu Rio de Janeiro (Nelson Trigueiro / Oscar Bellandi)
09 - The Lady Is a Tramp (L. Hart / R. Rodgers)
10 - Ranchinho de Palha (Luis Bonfá)
11 - Sem Esse Céu (Luis Bonfá)
12 - Ela Foi Embora (Oscar Bellandi / Djalma Ferreira)

Essa você me derrubou, seu Zeca.
Ouvir 'Esquece', do Gilberto Milfont me levou à minha infância.
Essa música tem uma linha melódica maravilhosa.
Há quanto tempo não a ouvia...

Zeca,

I love Dik Farney instrumental albuns. He has lot of wonderful ones, such as the marvelous "5 anos de jazz" and other ones pre-posted here.

I think Dick Farney wanted to be recognized by his great piano jazz playing. But in some kind of way he was cursed by his beautiful voice.
