Quarteto em Cy - Quarteto em Cy (1966)

I was planning to close this Monday with Dick Farney, since I had to make an urgent work to be accomplished by the morning. However, the schedule has changed and I'm very happy to present this album as an extraordinary post. Well, I will be open and honest my willing to make this additional one is just to show people this gorgeous picture bellow (with a high quality version available on music files) and also tell something that I didn't know.

This picture was taken in front of Bottles Bar, showing Quarteto em Cy, Carlos Coqueijo and Carlos Castilho, brother of Bebeto Castilho of Tamba Trio. Carlos Castilho performed a special role with the early Quarteto em Cy, Carlos was the founder of "As Bahianinhas", the girls before changing the group name to Quarteto em Cy. Carlos Castilho was the arranger and also guitarist, performing together with As Bahianinhas on first Quarteto em Cy performances in Rio de Janeiro.

This is Quarteto em Cy - Quarteto em Cy (1966), for Elenco, featuring Cyva, Cynara, Cyble and Regina Werneck (Cyregina), produced by Aloysio de Oliveira and arranged by Oscar Castro Neves and Ugo Marotta. Tracks include:

01 - Vamos Pranchar (Marcos Valle / Paulo Sergio Valle)
02 - Espere Um Pouco (Ugo Marotta / Vica)
03 - Canto de Ossanha (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes)
04 - Samba Torto (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
05 - Caminho do Mar (Sergio Ricardo)
06 - Segredinho (Carlos Coquejo / Maria Eugênia)
07 - Amaralina (Carlos Castilho / Francisco de Assis)
08 - Morrer de Amor (Oscar Castro Neves / Luvercy Fiorini)
09 - Pedro Pedreiro (Chico Buarque)

Grato.

Had one of the worst days in recent memory. Got home, logged on to Loronix & found this wonderful music waiting to be heard. I love these gals. Their singing always brightens my mood. Their harmonies are pure & lovely. This is the kind of music I would play for my (future) children. Thanks for helping me forget my worries at least for a little while.
PS Can you post the Cynara & Cyble album in the future?

Hi,

Thank you very much for posting this. I think Q. em Cy are fabulous singers. Great that you put some of the history and even a picture of the early days on line.
However, I think there is a small mistake in the listing of the album contents. It lists "Vamos Pranchar" as the first track. But if you look at the archives of Elenco, ME-33 is listed with "A Banda"
(Chico Buarque) as the first track of side 1. "Vamos Pranchar" is the 2nd., "Espere Um Pouco" the 3rd and so on.
