Made in Brasil - Tudo Joia (1984) with Breno Sauer

This is one of the most inquisitive contributions from Caetano Rodrigues so far. A band born in Chicago that makes a fusion of funky, jazz and samba as I never heard before. I know that Breno Sauer is part of this band, but he could not be responsible alone for the strengths of this band and specially this LP.

Meet Made in Brasil - Tudo Joia (1984), for Pausa (Italy), as said, an above the average jazz and samba fusion with nice vocal arrangements featuring Breno Sauer - Piano, Paulo Garcia - Bass & Vocals, Akio Sasajima - Guitar, Neusa Sauer - Lead Vocals, Ron Dewar - Tenor, Roberto Sanchez - Percussion and Phil Gratteau - Drums. If you look for samba jazz with vocals, this is the release for you. It is hard to believe that this group is from Chicago. Tracks include:

01 - Bebete
02 - Samba Do Avião
03 - Sai Dessa
04 - Arlequin Desconhecido
05 - Favela
06 - Fato Consumado

Your blog is wonderful. I've started to really explore Brasilian music over the past year and your site has been a great help in discovering great music. Thank you so much for sharing!

Hi, great blog, lots of good music!

There's another group with a similar name: Made in Brazil (with 'z'), a great Brazilian rock band. Made in Brazil, Celso, Oswaldo Vecchione & co are active since the 60s till today.

Hello,

That's right. There are several nice bands from the 70s in Brazil. O Peso is another legend from that time.

Cheers, zeca

Viva Breno Sauer! This is such a surprising record; I didn't expect something from 1984 to sound so clean and fresh.

Maestro Sauer has lived primarily in Chicago for a long time, and despite some health problems, he's playing once a month here, in a group with a percussionist friend of ours. We're going to see him next Friday, so I will give a report afterward.

I also enjoy his earlier records from Brasil; very good. Obrigado as always!

this IS Breno Sauer's band, they have changed their name to SOM BRASIL and still play in the Chicago area. Just recently they played at the Taste of Chicago and are at Uncommon Ground every 1st friday of the month. Not to be confused with Made in Brazil from California. Breno is and has always been the band leader of this band. I don't know who you are talking about but Made in Brasil is Breno Sauer.
