Carolina Cardoso de Menezes - Tapete Magico (1958)

Carolina Cardoso de Menezes is a true legend; she made her first album in 1931 for Parlophon, with two compositions by her own at the age of 15. She recorded hundreds of albums throughout a career that spans more than seven decades. Carolina Cardoso de Menezes had a classical background with a strong connection with the popular music helping on the translation to piano the classic repertoire from Ernesto Nazareth, Zequinha de Abreu, Pixinguinha, among others.

This is Carolina Cardoso de Menezes - Tapete Magico (1958), for Odeon, probably the most popular album released by Carolina Cardoso de Menezes. Tapete Magico has something unique, the repertoire brings 60 songs played by Carolina Cardoso de Menezes piano accompanied by a small rhythm section. Side A is dedicated to America standards bringing 30 songs by US composers and side B brings a collection of ten boleros, ten rumbas and ten sambas. Carolina left us in the last day of 1999, 31-12-1999, being buried in Rio de Janeiro at the first day of XXI century while the city ends the celebration of the turn of the new century.
